Everything we were looking for

We were looking for something to provide a little, white noise while our daughter sleeps. It's great for trips and did just the trick. We took it to the beach with us since she slept on an air mattress on the floor and we all slept better b/c of it.

Effectively distracts from external noise

Marpac Sound Screen is a device that effectively distracts from outside noise. Perfect for the psychotherapy office or for night time sleeping. We have several in different rooms of the house and at the office.

Worth the Price

I am an extremely light sleeper that's on an odd schedule, so I needed something to block out the normal sounds of people being awake and active in the house while I sleep. I'd tried some of the sleep CDs, keeping a fan on in the room and ear plugs. The CDs didn't work, the fans kept me too cold, and the ear plugs start to make my ears ache after awhile. The SleepMate has been a nearly perfect solution so far. I've had it about a month, and it works REALLY well to block most sounds. The only thing it hasn't been the best for is the sound of a door closing. Even when the TV in the living room hits extreme volumes, it blocks most of that, and if it doesn't drown it out completely, turning on some music while the SleepMate is still running solves that problem pretty well without deafening me in the process. This has been the best option I've found for helping me get some decent sleep, and it's even great when you just want a little peace during the day. I get to be in my own little world while it's on. I love it!

White noise heaven

IF you have difficulty sleeping in hotels or at home where noise outside the room keeps you awake, this is for you. The light sound of rushing air is all it takes for a sound sleep. Great product!

Does the trick!

I love this sound machine! I bought this for my 3 1/2 year old daughter before she was 2 to muffle some of the noise around the house while she was sleeping. It really does the trick! Now that we have a second one who wakes up frequently during the night I would hate to be without this thing! The baby's room is right next door to my toddler's room and when the sound machine is on you cannot hear him. We take this with us on trips and I am always amazed at the amount of noise it can drown out. And it is a peaceful white noise. It sounds more like air blowing rather than static. They are a bit pricey but it is definitely worth it. I am buying another one for my baby's room. I would love one for our room too but I'd be too afraid I wouldn't hear my children wake up in the middle of the night.

just as good if not better than the one I have had since I was an infant.... I'm 38 yrs old

I had a sleep-mate in my nursery room....after 38 plus years of being on EVERY night it finally gave up the ghost. I took it on vacations ,sleep-overs and on the road. I also replaced my parents' wich was older than mine. This company makes things that last!!

Depends on your Noise Issue - No Good for Cubicles

I bought one to help deal with the folks at work. I sit in a cubicle all day and was about to loose it listening to all the loud, click-clack keyboards, mouse clicking and scrolling, phone conversations, bad eating manners and etc. It was suggested that I get a white noise machine. Well.....it didn't help. You can still hear everything that you wish you didn't have to listen to all day. It sounds like a loud fan running and I agree with the woman that said that the design/color is just awful. I had to hide the machine on my desk to prevent the starring as people walked by.

Soothing product!

I bought this as a gift for my father. He absolutely loves it! The two sound levels are great. I was worried it wouldn't be loud enough but it is the perfect level. The noise from the Sound Screen is very much like the sound of the table top fan he'd been using for 10 years so he couldn't be happier. Plus it's much less bulky and he can pack it in a suitcase. I'm planning on buying some for my children's rooms. I would definitely recommend this product!

Not what I had hoped for

I purchased this item hoping it was similar in sound to a vaccum or hair dryer to help my 1 month old daughter sleep. Instead it sounded like the soft hum of a fan. Not near loud enough or high enough in pitch to make a difference in her abiity to sleep. The machine did work when I plugged it in. It just wasn't what I was looking for.
