Great speakers for the price

Creative SBS 380 2.1 Speakers
I needed some speakers with a headphone jack and subwoofer for a newly re-built PC. The new motherboard didn't support the old Boston Acoustics digital speakers I was using with the original motherboard.
These analog speakers do the job without breaking the bank. Not the highest fidelity in the world, but for my purposes they are perfect.
Great for the price

I think these speakers sound great for the price. It has very good bass responce, with clean highs. Remember the price, they sound great for that and would recomend these speakers for anyone who is looking for a set of computer speakers for this price range.
Not bad

For the price these speakers sound great the bass isnt the best in the world because there is no master bass control. The actual speakers sound really good though and im impressed and i would recommend these to people.
no base controller

I wouldve given a 5, but for no base controller. Sound is awesome, very clear and cut, base is also awesome, but no controller. You will have to use some software to control it, but that doesnt help too much.
Real sound

These speakers were really just a whim, plus I needed to add a few bucks for free shipping with another item from Amazon - in Hawaii we love Amazon's free shipping! They had to fit in my desk cubbyholes. The originals I was using were really tinny, but as I only use sound for internet stuff and occasional CD music I don't care much. If I want to seriously listen to music or see a film I have a decent home theater system. There is some justification to the complains of too much bass (and no balance controls) which I solved by stuffing the tube in the subwoofer with part of a duster pad (cut to size). For the price and size I'm happy as a pig in slop with these.

The dealio...

I would recommend these to anyone looking for some cheap PC speakers. The Bass on my set sounds perfectly matched to the volume, which can mean that any complaints are caused by flukes in the manufacturing of the speakers. If you are afraid of getting a defective set, buy them from walmart so you can easily return them. In fact, they were cheaper at walmart than online in my case. One final note: If you are looking to fill a large room with rich sound, or just be blown away by volume, these likely are not the speakers for you. For that I would recommend one of Logitech's 5.1 speaker combos.
Not recommend if you want a good bass effect.

It is not good enough. There is only one volume control, no bass control.
I am kind of not satisfy with the bass effect.
read the bad reviews--too much bass, tinny satellites, no power
2007-03-12
I bought these speakers thinking that the bad reviews were probably just that--bad reviews. Unfortunately they turned out to be spot on. There is way too much muddy sounding bass produced by the subwoofer, and there is no way to reduce it except by using an equalizer such as through Itunes. And the satellite speakers, besides sounding tinny, produced very little sound. With everything turned to max that could be maxed, the volume was moderate--forget about cranking it up a bit for a song that you like. In this case you really do get what you pay for.
Too much base

I bought the SBS 340 but I can see they look the same and from what another reviewer said they obviously sound the same. Besides if anyone is planning on getting the 340 series (they are sold at Walmart) well think twice about getting it unless you can find a better option.
There is no way to turn the bass off and it's too powerful and it's just a thud sound. I have to face the port downwards to prevent my neighbors from getting mad. The only decent thing is that the speakers are OK and that I don't have to put my headphone cord directly into my computer anymore and have them snagging all the time and getting pulled out. And what is annoying me all the sudden right now is the green light indicating the speaker is on, too bad you can't turn it off. I plan on disabling it.
It's worth the money if you can't buy anything online or can't find a better rated speaker. There is one better one sold at Walmart and on Amazon but it's $5 more and I don't think that includes shipping. I'm not too upset because the base enclosure functions as a footstool for me and I was able to rip the wire off the base speaker thereby preventing it from making any sounds. Besides that I have some cheap comfortable RCA headphones which get the job done and having them on protects me from the relentless noise of my heater and air conditioner.
