Perfect purchase
2008-06-14
This was the perfect handsaw for what I wanted to do which is cut down, then cut up tree limbs. The tree limbs I've cut down are about 3-4" diameter branches. I have also used this saw to cut down giant bird of paradise (about 12 feet high) and then cut them into smaller pieces to fit in yard waste receptacle for trash pick up. The tree stumps larger than 8" dia., I have sawed down the middle, then cut in from each side. The saw is easy for me to handle (a woman 5'4", 125 lbs). I also used the metal blade to easily saw off some 1/2" bolts and cut through some pvc pipes. Amazon's price was great and I'm very happy with my purchase
love it

This handsaw is very similiar to the older navigator. it works great cutting wood, branches, metal and pvc. i have been using the navigator for several years and many family members have bought them after using mine.
The Power Handsaw
2008-06-06
The Black & Decker power handsaw is a nice tool to have. I used it the very day it arrived to cut up the medium-sized braches of a big tree limb that took out my power lines & part of the roof. The saw did the job on limbs up to four inches in diameter & was kind of fun to use. I am pretty hapless with tools, but this is very handy. The instructions, however, delayed me for an hour. The diagrams do not clearly show how to install the blade: another picture would have helped.
Very Handy

This saw has proven very handy for me. I have used it for various projects around the house and it has performed well. If you are a do-it-yourself kind of person, this is a nice saw to have in your toolbox.
Navigator saw perfect for a woman, or a man!

I ordered this to replace one I had broken. These Navigator saws are the neatest little saws. My husband made fun of me until he realized I could cut all those landscape timbers without his help.
Not impressed.

Not impressed with the unit. Dropped dead after a day of mild use. Nice shape and lots of potential but the unit simply stopped functioning so soon; also, it includes two blades but a cover for only one of the blades. The smaller, sharper metal-cutting blade has no plastic protection. I'd stay away.
Don't own it yet but found it cheaper at...

Lowes! Check out Lowes website, they have it for $29.97. I'm in the process of selecting a Sawz-all & came across this little guy, probably gonna pick this up for the girlfriend so she can use it around the yard for pruning, etc but gonna get mine at Lowes. Just thought people interested should know that you can find it cheaper elsewhere.
This is a Wizard of saws.....

Have a very unreliable yard service and with hurricane season approaching
I needed to get lots of tree pruning done in a hurry. My chain saw is difficult to use when up on a ladder so opted to try this.. WOW!! It is so easy and efficient to use that the hardest part of the job was moving the ladder. This is one remarkable product and at a good price worth its weight in gold. I highly recommend it.
great tool

Great product, absolutely excellent for cutting PVC pipes
Sharp, precise and easy to use
Good Alternative to a Sawzall
2008-07-06
I bought this saw primarily to cut up medium-sized branches trimmed off the trees hanging over my fence from the neighbor's yard. Up to about 1" in diameter, I use a Siskars lopper, but I needed something to cut larger branches to 18" long or shorter, so they'd fit in my green waste recycling bin. This saw is basically a powered hacksaw. It feels hefty and well-made. Even using the wood blade, it takes patience to cut through a 2" branch or larger. It is variable speed, but even so it sometimes grabs the wood and sets up some severe vibration, much like a Sawzall, and darn near scrambles your brain if you don't let go of the trigger. It seems to work better if I cut halfway thru and then flip the wood over and cut from the other side. It might help to put the wood in a vise or clamp it to something so you can keep both hands on the saw like the instructions recommend. It arrived at my house fairly promptly and in good condition, but I was upset to see it advertised on Amazon for $39 (I paid $44 a week earlier). Oh well, guess you can't win them all. Can't wait to see how the metal-cutting blade works. Overall, I'd say it's worth buying, especially if you're into power tools like I am. Good luck!
