worst program ever

This was the most user unfriendly Turbotax I have ever used. The Schedule C imported misinformation, had to keep forcing in the correct info. And I just found out my State taxes were received showing I owed a completely different amount than what I had electronically filed. I have used this program for years, but after this, NEVER AGAIN!!! Let this be a warning to others.

insufficient menus

Turbotax was a great service, but I would like to be able to navigate with menus/tabs to a greater degree of specificity within the input pages itself. Writing the return often requires back-tracking to a page that you alread covered.
To get to a particular prior page, I would often be forced to go through up to 5 or 6 prior pages, reading the question each time because turbotax highlighted the default which was not my previous choice. This was a colossal waste of time in an otherwise excellent product. It could easily be fixed in the 2006 software if turbotax 1) switched the defaults to the users' previously-inputted values (CompleteTax does this and it seems like an obvious thing to do) and/or made it easy to navigate to a prior page by giving a link to every input page when a user clicks a superior tab or link. This is what a good web-page does, and it would be very helpful if turbotax did the same.

Horrible product this year

I used TurboTax Premier last year & was so happy with it that I told everyone to buy it this year. What a fool I was. This years program was a nightmare. I will never purchase it again. Every time I needed to go back to check something, I had to go backwards through each page until I reached the page I wanted. Then to go forward to where you originally were, you had to retrace all your steps a second or third or fourth time. It got to the point I quit going back to check. It took hours this year and I am still not confident the results were correct. I may take it to H&R Block just to see if I need to file an amend. Next year I will try a different product. ---One other thing, navigating the State portion was so difficult. There were hidden pages in something called "quick zoom" or some such thing. I could never figure out where I was. Thanks for the headache Turbotax.

Detailed Guidance With A Hidden Fee

As an IT Professional, I'm all about simplification. I'm also about paying for a license and expecting certain features to be value-added; not ala-carte. Shelling out ~$60 for a software platform just to turn around and have to shell out an additional ~$30 as I prefer to eFile my statements is a bit unsettling.

Intuit gets my approval on their final product, as long as you aren't hoping to import statements from common platforms such as Money or Quicken. This software will guide you through your tax return and populate all of your forms for you. It may even show you a deduction or two that you might have been unaware of.

I guess the bottom line is does ~$90 substantiate this process/purchase; if you prefer to eFile? My vote is nay.

Horrible disappointment

I had the exact same experience as another reviewer. ....loved it for years...changed formats...no confidence. At the last minute I had to use an accountant. The accountant cost me $650.00. $50 more than what I was over paying in taxes using this software. A disaster. It doesn't look like it was importing data correctly, state navigation really was painful. I buy this software to try different senerios (Joint or single)...but this year it wouldn't do that. Probably because they worry too much about getting paid for every user and not enough to assist people who bought the software.

To my mind the software is crippled.

If you want to save a lot of money and have some control over your taxes, this is the way to go. I have used it for years. Never once audited.

Did not include all forms

I purchased this program for my personal and home business tax return but it did not include all the forms needed so I had to buy another version from them. H&R TaxCut included all I needed and was 1/2 the price.

works like advertised--have your info ready and it will prompt you thru the necessary forms, saving the caculations and determinations for behind the scenes processing. This leaves you with a concise, good-to-go tax return. If you ever manually processed more than a very simple return, you know exactly what I mean.

Useful but had a couple issues.

We had to use this program due to a delay by our tax person. Overall the interface was nice and it walked us through the process. We didn't have any special forms need so that probably made it easier then from what I saw other reviewers have posted.

It did offer some advice for 401 deductions.

One annoying thing was that electronic filing costs $30 for state and feds.

You get 2 tries and then they will charge you again.

The feds kept getting rejected because of a supposed error for my wifes birth date. This is bogus as we have filed for years. We ended up printing out the forms and will mail them.

State went in ok.

We might try it one more time for next year.

TurboTax Made My Day

I've been using TurboTax since 1999. We run two small companies and my background is in accounting. Hence, I have a VERY hard time giving someone else my bookkeeping and taxes to do, since I really have a hard time letting go of the control! (I've really got to get over that!!) Each year, it seems that TurboTax does nothing but improve! I typically delay until the last minute and cram it all in on April 14, and if it wasn't for the simplicity fo this software, I'd be filing extentions every year. Really, gathering all your stuff together is the hardest part. This software does everything else for you.
