More Directed Electronics garbage.
2008-08-22
First off, let me state that I LOVE Sirius programming. That's all that I like about the company though. Their customer service is easily the worst I've ever experienced from any company, and the fact that they use Directed Electronics to make all of their equipment is a HUGE mistake!
Take this craptacular antenna for example. My first one lasted just over a year. At the time, I didn't know what was wrong with my radio and I assumed the whole unit was screwed up. I called up Sirius, waited forever to talk to someone that could help me, and they eventually agreed to send me a whole new radio. I installed that one (a factory refurb) and it's worked fine until a month ago. That means it lasted just over a year again. I really do think it's water that kills these antennas as we've had a lot of rain lately and that's when the signal really got bad.
Once again I'm getting "acquiring signal" messages if there's even so much as a cloud above me. Treed areas make it impossible to listen to. Now I know that it's the antenna that's the culprit. THIS antenna in particular was a complete piece of garbage that should have been pulled off the market years ago. Being Sirius though with their carefree attitude towards fixing problems, people are still installing these everyday only to have them die within a year.
Absolute junk

I've gone through 2 of these in less than 2 years. I initially thought it was the wire that was going bad, but after disassembling the non-working units I found a tremendous amount of corrosion inside. No wonder they stopped working.
I wouldn't buy another one of these. I'm going to look for a different brand this time around.

Received exactly what I'd ordered in a timely fashion - can't ask for more than that!
Low Durability!
2008-03-16
After 2 years of experience with this antenna and after reading the other reviews I want to add to the list of bad reviews to dissuade potential buyers. This antenna works great *while it works* but will almost certainly die within a year's time. We've used sirius for 2 years now and have just gone through our 2nd antenna. That's a $40 per year cost just for crappy antenna replacement. I urge potential buyers, spend the extra money and get a more durable antenna or you'll just replace yours in a year.
Garbage

I have gone through 4 of these. Last one lasted less than 1 month before it broke. In each case, the wire frayed and then broke at the base of the radio. I can't express how disappointed I am with this product.
JUNK!!!!!!!!

TWO GONE BAD
2008-02-18
I have had the sirius S50 model for a year and 2 months. I have had two of these antennas go bad in that time. The first lasted about one month then it just stopped working and the radio said 'acquiring signal'. I also have the window antenna for the house dock which went bad also, so now i have to listen online or not at all. I like the sirius programming but continuously replacing antennas is such a waste of money. I am looking for an alternative, cause this antenna is bound to go bad. BEWARE!
Total Junk

Product doesn't last, it's way overpriced, and Sirius does nothing to support their crappy product. Not to mention the horrible sound quality of satellite radio
Not Good

This antenna came with my Sportster and did the same thing that every one else seems to be saying. After about one year it started to go to "Acquiring Signal" more and more often until it just stopped all together. It seems like a lot of people are having the same problem, too bad Sirius is not forcing Directed Electronics to take responsibility and fix the problem. I will not buy this Antenna again and I hope one of the other ones last longer.
