Soooo glad I have this pump
2008-10-17
I bought this pump and when I first tried it I didn't feel any suction so I figured it was a bust and bagged it up and stuck it in the closet. Well when my Evenflo pump stopped working (read seperate review) I pulled this one back out and it worked great. And even when I broke the arm I called the customer service number and they replaced it for free, and I got it in a week. I love this pump, it is a life saver, easy to use, and when pumping at work I am done in a fraction of the time. I would recommend this pump to anyone.
I really like this pump

I have been using this pump for 1 month now and have no problems with it. It doesn't hurt, it's not that loud and easy to clean. I also called the company to just ask about a part and I got the nicest employee on the phone and shipped alternative adapters and shields for free. I also received them in 2 days! I do wish the pump had a faster suction. It seems slow compared to the pumps I have used. But it only takes me less than 10 mins. I think it's a good pump for the money and I am glad that I bought it.
Stop working the sixth time I used it

I had my first child and was looking forward to breast feeding but this was the only pump they had at the store and it quit on me. I was so disapointed because I had to take water pills and was unable to breast feed at that time. When the pump failed I dryed up and now cannot breast feed my child.

The First Years Natural Comfort Deluxe Double Breast Pump
My husband bought this pump from Wal-Mart when I was admitted into the hospital shortly after our baby was born since we knew I'd have to pump & dump for a few days after I returned home. He obviously bought the cheapest one there, even though I asked for a different one.
I only pump occasionally since I'm a stay-at-home mom, but it hurt so bad that I refuse to pump anymore using this pump. This pump works ok (although it is pretty loud) and it pumps as much as the Medela I was using at the hospital did. The motor hasn't had any problems (then again I only used it around the clock for 3 days and about 6 more times in the next 2 months). However, it HURTS! In order to get a strong enough suction to extract the milk, it pulls so hard on your nipple. The worst part for me is when I'm finished - because of the type of material that the shields are made of, I literally have to peel it off the skin - ouch! I also have to hold a towel under each shield because milk does sometimes leak from the bottom.
I just ordered the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump because of the great reviews. I just wish we hadn't wasted $50+ on this one.
Ouch!

This pump hurts! I wasted my money on this and had to go buy a Medela instead. It's worth the money to buy a good pump!
Great for me!

Money is better spent elsewhere.....

My husband went and purchased this one for me while I was still in the hospital, instead of listening to the one I wanted he got the cheaper one....Men. I told him there was a reason that all the other double electric pumps were 150.00 and above. This one is hard to hold in place, it's awkward and you have to press it against your breast really hard. The suction is not sufficient. It will only pump about 2 oz and then stops. Not to mention it takes close to 20 minutes to pump that 2 oz. It's very loud, and tends to back up in the tubing if your not paying explicit attention to the machine. The only thing good I can say about it is that the cups are comfortable. But that doesn't make it worth wasting you money on...buy a good one and save the time and money.
Awful product

I got one of these when my son was born and pumped every once in awhile since I was nursing around the clock on maternity leave. After the 6th time, the sunction was not working. So, I returned it back to Walmart and got a new one. It worked for my every once in awhile (total times I pumped less then 10 times). Now I have returned to work and need to pump 3 times throughout the day. It did well Mon-Wed. This morning, the sunction went out again. I had to just use one side at a time which took up over 30 minutes. Luckily I am trying to get my baby use to the formula because it doesn't look like I'll be pumping long.
GREAT but Noisy

This pump is great, it isn't uncomfortable or painful but I'd love it even more if it wasn't so noisy since I have to pump while my daughter's asleep. I found though, tht if you put it on a soft surface and maybe cover it with a blanket, the noisy isn't so bad. I'll give it 9/10.
Great Pump & Great Price

I read the other reviews and was weary about buying this one but I really couldn't afford anything more and I wanted a double pump. I AM SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS PUMP. I love it!!! My friend has a Medela and mine works just as well for ΒΌ of the price.
LITTLE NOISE - I previously owned an Evenflo Comfort pump. It worked ok but was very loud, was a single, and took me about 30 min to pump. With this one you can hear the motor but it is NOT loud. Plus it is far enough away from the breast cups that if you do find it irritating you can simply cover it with a blanket or pillow.
SUCTION - It takes a few times to get everything just right but the suction is great and there are two nipple guards to help if you have trouble getting a good fit. It does hurt if you turn it too high so you need to find a good setting. It does not need to be pressed hard against your chest but you might need to use the nipple guards. Also if the cups are not locked into place or if the flap setups are not pushed in all the way the suction will be poor but it is easy to tell since the cups click twice when in correctly. The flap setups you just need to be sure to push in all the way.
CLEANUP - My Evenflo had several parts to clean. It was annoying. This one only has three per side. Since they are put together so tightly I just wash each side as one piece after each pumping and then take them completely apart 3-4 times a week to run through the dishwasher. Just be sure to put them in a washing container (available in the baby feeding aisle) on the top rack.
EQUIPMENT - This pump is so customizable it's not even funny. It is set up originally for wide mouth bottles but has a wide-to-skinny bottle adapter. My adapter was a little difficult to screw in so I just used the original. It can also be used as a single pump easily and can be battery powered (although I have not used the battery setup so I don't know how well it works). The bottles come with the nippled tops and with plain closed storage lids.
GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE - After about 2 months there was a small plastic piece that holds the flap in place that came loose. I called the number in the info booklet and they sent me two new insert setups in about 4 days with no problems. It helps to call the right number. Plus it's no guarantee with any company that everyone you talk to will be helpful or courteous. I recently spoke to a very rude Wachovia rep, that doesn't mean they're a bad bank.
NEGATIVES - *I wish you didn't have to use the center support as I would rather use a nursing strap but you have to use it as the suction is built into it. The support is easy to hold though, and with one hand too. *After pumping the bottles don't screw in tight enough and milk will leak out if they fall over. *The carrying case is flimsy so I just bought my own in Wal-Marts cosmetic aisle.
I would definitely recommend this pump to anyone.
I hope this helps!
