I've had a 100 series Cardinal for three years now and it has never failed me. The drag is easy to adjust; the anti-reverse mechanism is now a necessity for me; and the 5-bearing reel tempo couldn't be smoother... I've just gotten a 302 Cardinal, and it's en-route, but this 100 series will be my nostalgic all-time favorite. Super inexpensive and completely reliable.

My Shakespeare reel finally stripped the gears out after a season of hard fishing, and may I add, allot of fish! I like the smaller reels because I'm not trying to catch large fish. I'm basically a trout fishermen, and the largest I've caught is about 1.5 pounds at Convict Lake. I purchased this reel right before they closed down the roads to the backcountry of the High Sierra's. I've caught several trout on it so far, and it's performed flawlessly. The last trip I took before the road closures of December 1st, I was actually reeling in ice on the fishing line. It was a bit chilly, but the reel performed well under freezing conditions. If you want a good reel for a good price, buy this one! You won't be sorry! Smooth action for casts, and for reeling in your favorite species of fish! The instant anti-reverse works just as it states! I tried other brands, and this one seems to have the best action. With this reel and my Ugly Stick, I'm looking forward to the new year and a great season of fishing! I give it a rating of 5 stars!
