A+++ Smooth Transaction Speedy Delivery

Thanks for a smooth transaction and speedy delivery. My daughter is enjoying the program and learning to use the keyboard while having fun!!! A+++
A good game, not a good instructor
2007-12-31
I bought this product because the reviews were so complimentary. However, this product is not meeting our needs. The pace is too quick and my son (8) is permitted to move before he has really mastered the lesson. I am able to set the Words Per Minute higher but once he reaches that he is given another 4 keys at once. Although it seems he has mastered the lesson, only his short term memory has learned anything and any long term muscle memory has no chance to develop. Also, there is no way to go backwards and repeat a lesson to review so I have had to make my own worksheets in MSWord to cover keystrokes he is not competent in. This is a fun game for him after his normal keyboarding lesson but I will no longer use it as his instructor.
Easy to use and a great tool for the kids

This has been a great tool for my son. He really does not like to write and it has been beneficial for him to learn to type.
My nine year old is teaching herself to type
2007-11-24
My nine year old daughter wanted to learn to type. I read the reviews of the available products and purchased this one. It was the right choice.
She is enjoying working her way through the games, improving both her accuracy and speed as she goes. This game, er, instructional program gives immediate feedback on both. She is very excited when she beats her previous score.
This seems like a better way to learn typing than the class I went to in high school in the 1970's. Back then, we had to listen for the bell to tell us when to hit the return bar. Now our kids can learn with fun games anytime they want, no bell and no return bar. No messy ribbon either!
Hate it...Hate it...Hate it!!!

This is not a program that ran well on my computer. I could get the lessons to download. However the "reward games" part of it would not. Everytime you finished a lesson I would get an error code and then I could only go on to the next lesson. This is no reward for a child learning how to type. I called the company and they e-mailed me a link to get the updated version and I got the same thing with that one too. There is a link to download a "fix" to this problem. Instead of fixining the problem it messed up my computer!
The Sponge Bob typing program is the next one I purchased and I must say it is much more "user friendly". The only drawback is that you need the disk everytime you play. But you will get better results in the end.
I would advise against getting Typing Instructor for kids...either version. Sponge Bob is slightly more expensive but you know the saying: "you get what you pay for".
BORING
2008-04-28
This is the most boring typing game imaginable. I couldn't get my son interested in it for two minutes. The box says for ages 7 and up. Might be slightly thrilling for a very attentive four year old if that!
A Warning for readers
2008-04-14
My daughter, 10, had worked through most of this program, and was learning to type correctly. It was a bit prone to let her progress too fast without feeling that she was making good strides for small improvements, but overall I was satisfied with it. However, in the last module, she came upon a few sentences in a lesson which revealed the climactic ending of The Lord of the Rings, which she had been reading with her father and was only halfway through! In my opinion, this was inexcusable. There may be endings from other novels that are given away in this program by thoughtless consultants or programmers, which I am unaware of. Parents trying to raise their children to read the book before watching the movie might want to avoid this program, and investigate directly regarding details of texts used from literature in the program's lessons.
would not play on my computer
2008-03-15
Try as I might, I could not get this thing to play on my computer -- a Dell running Windows XP, Media Edition. The seller proposed that I try reconfiguring my computer, and advised that I had done everything all wrong by trying the settings suggested in the Windows Compatibilty Wizard. Ah well, I don't see my way clear to re-doing my whole computer just on account of one game. I must say, I'm disappointed after reading all the great reviews of this program. Not sure I'll even be able to get my money back!
typing instructor for kids wonderful
2008-02-16
Kids, adults, it's fun and they love to do it. It took a little time for me to figure out how it works but with the children's help we mastered it. In one summer it turned 4 children into wonderful typists.
