Gerber Carnivore Tracking Light

The order arrived promptly and the light itself would be able to do everything it was suppose to. When Gerber first released this light it was way overpriced as the durable quality is questionable e.g. water resistant and made of light breakable plastic. I don't know how well this would hold in the field being in rain and thrown in the bottom of your pack that possibly could crush the light. The scientifically combined led blue and red lights offer great blood tracking and I like the option of the white xeon light so you can see and get yourself out of the dark and home.

i tryed this out on ketchup in the yard in the dark and it seems to bring out the red color as far as blood inthe woods id guess that it will work the same. hopefully i see all my deer drop but ill have it if i need it.
even if it works a little its better than losing a deer to a lost blood trail

I really can't say much about the product, it was a gift for my boyfriend and he seems to be happy with it.
I received the item with in a week so that was nice and had no problems with the seller.

better have fresh (wet) blood 2007-01-12
This item seems to be OK. The main problem we experienced was poor tracking ability if the blood had a chance to dry. This hunting season was fairly warm and the blood would dry really fast, so it didnt show up with the light as well as it would have been if the blood would have been wet. Hopefully next years hunting season will be colder so the blood will stay 'wet' for better tracking ability.
nighttime only 2007-01-11
one important aspect of this item that is not made clear is that is will only work for tracking blood during the night. it does not work during the day. I thought the light would make blood stand out for a daytime track, but I tested it and it does not.
Carmivore light 2007-01-10
Over all good. I would like the light to br a little stronger. It does make the red stand out. Weather seems not to bother it too much. I tracked 1 deer about 400 yards in a mist of rain with no problems.
Great light aids tracking 2007-01-05
The light is well made and offers a good addition my hunting pack. The tracking light uses colored lights to highlight red. It works but does highlight red leaves as well as blood. I have found that if I use the tracking light too long my eyes seem to function poorly so i switch between the white light and the tracking light often.
