6 Inches isn't enough 2007-12-11
This extension will help avoid damaging your Flip USB port or computer USB port. It really should be longer, but the price is right. Mine has a female and a male end, so I am not sure what others got, but Amazon has a 100% refund gaurantee.

6 Inch USB Extension Cable A-A 2007-10-30
Some "Extension" cable! With TWO MALE ends, you CAN'T extend any USB cable. Period! This is what this cable has, TWO Male ends. This cable SHOULD have an A-Male end AND an A-Female end to properly perform as an EXTENSION cable of any sort. Sure would have been nice if it had been clearly indicated that this "extension" cable ONLY had TWO A-MALE ends.

Camcorder jumper cable 2007-10-25
The USB, 6 inch. jumper cable shown for the Flip camcorder is not the right item. The cable has both ends the same as the end on the pop out connection on the camcorder. Unable to use the cable w/the camcorder. I'm using the pop out USB right to the computer. Be sure to purchase the correct cable if you want a jumper or extension.

Itme received is not the item described. 2007-09-25
I ordered 2 of this item. Clear AV sent me two 6 inch USB extension cables that have male connectors on both ends. The picture & technical description on this page is for a 6 inch USB extension cable that has a male connector on one end (type A) and a female connector on the other (type A).

After several exchanges of email, Clear AV was adamant they sent me the correct product, and offered no exchange, only a refund. Are the description & picture on this page wrong? Did they send me wrong item and weirdly won't admit to it? Clear AV has a really good rating overall with transactions, but I was dumbstruck by the dismissive tone of their emails to me, and the seeming lack of interest in correcting their mistake. And in fact after several searches on Amazon I could find no 6 inch USB extension cables offered by Clear AV that have male connectors on both ends.

These cables are quite cheap, and even with shipping (if you get several) they are cheaper than buying them at a retail store, at least where I live - which makes it all the more frustrating. If Clear AV had just admitted to sending the wrong product and offered an exchange I'd be annoyed but I would still buy from them. I won't purchase anything from them again.

Handy Addon 2007-06-02
I bought this extension for one reason only. To prevent damage to my USB keys. I had the unfortunate experience of grabbing for one of my USB keys to pull it from the computer and broke the connector when I slipped. This cost me a lot of time and money finding someone who could rescue my data. When I mentioned the incident on a forum I was advised that the best solution is to use a short extension between the key and the computer (or hub). This works great.

Product is as adverstised 2008-06-09
After reading several recent negative reviews who claim to have not received the product advertised I was hesitant to order this. After checking StarTech's web site and confirming that they did make the product advertised, I went ahead and ordered 3 and received the product advertised. It is 6 inches and it has USB type A male on one end and USB type A female on the other end, which is what you want most of the time for an extension cable. It is rated for USB 2.0 and so far works fine for me. And a good price at that. Perhaps too short for some uses, but just right for others.

Perfect for Macbook Air 2008-03-30
This is perfect for connecting bulky USB devices to the Macbook Air. We use it with an SD card reader that is a little too large for the cramped USB connector and the short length makes it convenient to carry around.

This cable is only useful for extending the reach of a USB port and is functionally the same as USB extension cables included with USB memory sticks.

Makes Life Easier 2008-03-29
I use it on my USB Flash Drive because mine will not fit unto the USB ports on my computer at work. The plastic is thick on the drive, causing the interference, and this product solves the problem. It works great and I have not encountered any problems. Unlike the other reviews, mine is a male and female cord that is 6 inches long, exactly what the description says.

Watch out for the shipping 2008-03-24
I wanted to order 6 of these. The price was very reasonable. I put them in my cart and went to check out. They wanted 17.88 for ground shipping for Six 6" cables.

I REFUSE to do business with companies like ClearAV, that low ball you with the price only to jack you around on the shipping, no matter how good of price they may have.

I really like Amazon and will continue to buy from them, but they should be ashamed to be affiliated with a company like ClearAV.

This is a MALE-MALE cord 2008-01-16

I should have read the reviews. This thing is indeed a male-male
plug. This cord is supposed to handle situations where you
can't plug multiple thick USB devices into closely-spaced
USB sockets. You would use the cords to move the devices a few inches
from the computer. But you need a MALE-FEMALE cord for that
(just like for any electrical extension cord). A MALE-MALE plug
is worthless. I don't know why anyone would even manufacture such things.

So I'll see if the return policy works, and hope it isn't too much
of a hassle.
