Can't Beat it for the Price

My last Black and Decker Trimmer lasted 30 yrs and worked very well.
This new one is more powerful and trims larger diameter material.
Combined with a reasonable this is one great tool.
Mine failed easily after trimming bushes once/year over 3 years

I purchased mine in May 2006 and it worked fine on my boxwood hedges, which are about 60 feet long and don't have any larger branches. I trim them once per year. It worked fine again last year (2007), but this year it started slowing down to the point where it was useless for cutting the hedges.
I called Black & Decker and they confirmed it was just out of warranty and I would have to have it serviced. Of course, for a $70 trimmer, they know I'm not going to bother.
Before you buy, consider this: you probably won't be using it year-round, which means a 2-year warranty is essentially useless if you get a bad product. I believe this model, and perhaps all Black & Decker electric trimmers, may fall in this category.
I will never purchase from Black & Decker again.
The Best Trimmer 2008-06-09
This is the best trimmer that I have owned. It trims everything very well. I like the extended cutting bar, the short electrical cord and the powerful motor.

It does an excellent job. Cuts like a hot knife through butter. My other trimmer, "Crafttsman 'best'" always "gnawed" at the branches leaving frayed edges. I particularly like that the Black and Decker can also be called upon to do delicate trim work as well as heavy twigs. Completely satisfied.
Makes the job easier! 2008-06-04
We bought this trimmer for a large row of privet hedges around our yard. Trimming this has always been a dreaded chore but not so much anymore! The 24 in size is great and allows us to trim the top in one pass instead of two. As the hedge has grown larger and older, some of the thicker pieces have been impossible to trim with our old trimmer but this one handled it with no problem. My husband also noticed that his hands felt less "shaky" after using this trimmer. We don't know if that comes from the fact that this trimmer is better or because he was able to finish the job faster than before, thus less time holding the trimmer. We are impressed!

I have NEVER used a hedge trimmer before, so I researched online which would be the best one. I told my husband he had a choice of one that cost around $300.00 or one that cost about $70.00, including shipping. Guess which one he told me to buy? This hedge trimmer was so easy to use, especially for a novice like me. I was a little unsure, but soon became a "pro". It is lightweight enough for a woman to use, but sure does cut thorugh tough branches in no time at all. Great product.

Great item with a nice long blade for a better reach. With the Free Super Saver Shipping the overall price was better than I could have gotten locally. The only complaint is that Black and Decker should include a blade cover.

Does everything that it says. Cut dead ornamental grasses - handled the job with ease. Trimmed Japanese Willow bushes cleanly. Would buy again.
