Editorial Review
The GA-40 is a dedicated, easy-to-operate guitar/bass tuner with automatic pitch detection. In Guitar mode it supports seven-string guitars (7B through 1E), and in Bass mode it supports six-string basses (Low-B and Hi-C). With the precision you expect from KORG, the GA-40 indicates the pitch quickly and accurately. The LCD needle-style display provides both the accuracy of an LCD as well as the easy viewing of a needle indicator, and the display has been enlarged for even better visibility. You can also use the built-in high-sensitivity microphone to tune an acoustic guitar.

good product, but not the most accurate 2008-09-19
Good tuner, but it has trouble discerning some strings from each other, even when the guitar is properly tuned. This may be normal with guitar tuners, as this is the first one I've ever owned. Other than that, it's a good, cheap tuner that gets the job done, but probably not the best choice for a professional player.

Korg GA-40 Tuner 2008-09-16
Korg GA-40 Large Display Guitar and Bass Tuner

This tuner is great! I bought it to tune my Ibanez BTB200 Bass. Everything about this tuner is truly A+. If there were any negative things to say about it, I'd have to say that the little flip out tab in the back to make it stand upright is a bit flimsy. Also, the tuner's mic can be a bit sensitive. It just makes tuning it sometimes a bit tedious. But it is spot on accurate! My bandmate has used a Boss tuner for a long time and he, too, was amazed by the accuracy of this tuner, not to mention the price! Other than those two extremely small issues, I love it!

This is great to own 2008-07-12
I love having this tuner. It is such a relief to have it to do a quick tune and not have to soley rely on my ear. This is especially great when you are in a pressured situation to tune fast!

A Gift! 2008-06-16
Honestly, I've never been able to tune a guitar with complete confidence.....until now. I'm glad to have it!

Excellent tool! 2008-06-09
I bought this primarily for my son who is learning guitar and then I ended up picking up the guitar as well and have used it myself. We both have found this tuner to be very easy to use and it does exactly what we need it to do.

We've had it long enough now where we've learned that as long as you put in fresh batteries before the old ones get really low, this tuner will do the job.

Whether you plug in directly or use the built-in mic to tune, this unit is easy to use and the display is easy to read, making the whole tuning process quite pleasurable.

You'll be happy with this tuner.

Perfect Little Tuner 2008-04-03
Korg makes fantastic tuners. I used the GA-30 a lot before picking up this model. Both are fantastic. If you need your tuner to operate in-line, then this is a great choice. If you don't care that much, or really don't plan on using it in-line, just go for the GA-30. If you want to use a lot of non-standard tuning, I suggest model CA-30 or CA-40, both of which are chromatic tuners. They can tune to any of the 12 pitches across any octave (so far as I can tell). They don't include presets for Guitar or Bass, though, so you need to know which notes to be tuning yourself.

It is cheap enough for you to give it a try.

Guitar tuner 2008-03-28
When I was 8-9 years old I took guitar lessons for several weeks, giving it up because I was never able to tune a guitar. Recently my 11 year old daughter wanted to learn to play the guitar, so I purchased the Korg GA-40 guitar tuner even before I bought a guitar for my daughter. It is so easy to use that I can perfectly tune the guitar within just a couple of minutes (good for me, who stood in awe of the salesman who tuned it by ear in less than 30 seconds). I taught my daughter how to use it, and she can also tune the guitar in just a couple of minutes. She loves to have her younger sister tighten/loosen the strings just so she can practice re-tuning it. This is a very good product for tuning a guitar in a quiet environment; it would not be so useful in an area which had loud noises present.

Jumpy 2008-03-21
In one word, "Jumpy." Would not settle down when tuning my bass or my guitar. Even tried it with my keyboard. I returned it and bought the Fender ST-1 tuner. It's excellent - simple - big display - great for gigs.

I don't know how to really tune my guitar properly so I decided to buy this one because it looked good and at a cheap price compared to some of the other ones. Just pluck a string and if it's in tune the needle will point straight up and the light will be green but if the needle is to the left it's flat and if the needle goes to the right then it's sharp and a red light will appear. You can also use this to tune a 7 string guitar, a bass or acoustic guitars which is a plus because I own an electric and an acoustic guitar. It's also small and easy to carry around with you.The first time I used it on my guitars it took a little while because they were both very much out of tune but it was easy to get them in tune and now when I tune them it's easy and fast.

I don't have any experience with other tuners but I do know that this is a good tuner with some good features at a cheap price and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a tuner.
