The Best of Three 2007-06-10
I decided it was time to invest in reachers for the rooms in my home that I use most, so I oredered three more from [...]: the Invacare Multi-Pik Reacher, the PikStik Pro Aluminum Reacher, and the Medline 31" Reacher. I put them all through several tests of common uses I have for reachers: pulling books down from shelves, picking up bits of paper and coins, and unloading the dishwasher. The results? I found the Invacare to be the most useful for me by far. The Medline seems to require more muscle power to grasp things, so it comes in a close second. The PikStik feels flimsy and I had a hard time grasping things. It has been consigned to the pantry where things are organized so that I do a minimum of reaching.

Good, but . . . . 2006-11-09
It works great, and is light and grabs firmly, but one of the litle rubber pads fell off the gripper and got lost.

Feels like toy 2006-09-08
This is a cheap plastic (except for the metal tube)toy. It's like those hand claws for kids. You squeeze the handle and the claw closes. The grabber part on this thing has a 2 1/2" opening. You won't be able to grab a small can of soup. The magnet is weak and is located on the outside of one of the grabber finger. On the inside of the fingers, they have rubber pads that are removable (probably for cleaning) but they seem to come off on their own.

Invacare Reacher 2006-07-05
This is the best reacher I have ever used. I am in a wheelchair due to MS and have used various types over the past 6 years but the quality and ease of use is much better with this.

A VERY USEFUL DEVICE 2008-06-20
This is my second (what I call a great picker-upper). I broke my first one after three years when I accidentally used it as a cane, otherwise, it would have lasted for many more years. This is my first and only comment on a product. Why I am writing this is to let people who have bad knees, bending problems etc., have some relief by using this product.

Poorly Made - broke during first month 2008-02-17
I liked this reacher, but it broke apart the first month of use. I really wish it had better durability because I like the larger grabbing paddles. I have one I got from the hospital that has a magnetic tip, so I won't be replacing this one.

Not worth the money 2007-12-29
The rubber tips came off within a few weeks and the entire gripper end broke off after about 3 months.

I love it........... 2007-12-27
I'm short and am afraid of falling on a high stool. Now I was able to reach that coveted jar of honey from the farmers market on that top shelf.

Soooooooo, I pick it up with the reacher, yipeeeeeee. Unfortunately I also set it down, the honey jar went on it's side, and the cap not being fastened as well as it should have been, leaked out of the jar, onto the shelf, dribbling it's way to the stove.

The reacher worked but so did Murphy's Law. In all seriousness, it's a tool I use at least twice a week.

strong and able to use for multi items 2007-09-08
I was so glad I bought this and did not depend on the flimsy one they sent home from the hospital with me. I am able to do all my house chores with it including talking dishes out of dishwasher. My neigher was visiting and her husband also has a reacher and she was complaing how she always had to pick up coins from his collection when he drops them. Well I sent mine over and he tried it out. He loved it so much he had to have me order one for him. I ordered 2 on my first order and one other type. My mother-inlaw who had recent hip surgery had a choice of which grabber she wanted and of course she chose the Invacare multipik. So not only am I pleased but so is my neighbor and my mother-in-law. Its a great product and picks up quite heavy things and hard to handle items.
