Dion notes, "When I was a kid, there was no Rock & Roll. In the early 50’s – late at night, I’d tune into Wheeling, West Virginia (WWVA), listening to the Blues – Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘How Many More Years,’ Jimmy Reed’s ‘Bright Lights, Big City.’ After school, I’d run home to catch the last half hour of the ‘Don Larkin Country Show’ coming out of Newark. I was a Hank Williams junkie; for me, putting country and blues together – that’s what I call Rock & Roll."
Previewing the album in MOJO, Paul Déchamé writes, "Recalling the back-to-basics approach of Cash’s American recordings – muted drums, acoustic guitars – it’s a little like having Dion in your front room strumming his favourite blues songs." Don McCleese, in No Depression, sums up Bronx In Blue thusly: "It all sounds like Dion. It all sounds great."

Dion Bronx in Blue

I felt the disc left a lot to be desired from Dion.
Repetitive lyrics in many of the songs got tiresome. The rythmn was bluesy and that I liked.
I couldn't compare him to the music makers I heard him compare himself too in an interview I heard on the radio, the bits played during the interview were funky, which is why I purchased the CD. I love blues men like BB King and Bobby Blue Bland--maybe I was expecting to much from such a casual performer.
Thanks, Jo Anne Monastero

WOW, what a great album this is. Dion's voice is fantastic, as strong as ever. And his guitar playing is right on the money and pulled off perfectly. This is a true blues album that would make Robert Johnson and the rest of the original blues greats proud. Whether you're a guitar player of not, this is a great album. You will love it.
One of his Best

WOW!!! Who would have thought. A White Italian singing Blues. I have quite a few of Dion's albums (CD's) and this tops off as one of best he has done. He's been my favorite since I was eleven and it's great to see he is continuing to make GREAT music. This is a MUST for all Dion fans.
Still a true idol!

This album should have received the Blues Album of the Year in February 2007! What a shame it didn't. Maybe his next one will. Can't wait to hear it all. I'm blessed because I get to hear him every week! And the next album coming out is even better than this one!@!!!!! This year he should win for sure as long as it gets released in time. Watch for Dion's next blues CD! Not only an awesome voice, but an awesome person! And he can play the guitar with the best of them. Don't miss it.
