Great tool at a 'below market' price!
2008-01-24
What caught my eye with this tool was the high quality I've seen in other Milwaukee tools and the overwhelming positive reviews online. Then there was the price! I couldn't find one of these in the local box stores or the specialty air-tool shops that love to promote Hitachi and Max. In fact, I couldn't find ANY Milwaukee nailers locally. Of course, those other brands cost 2-3 times MORE so their must be a reason to buy them?? I own several Hitachi guns and honestly love them. I thought I would find a reason to buy another Hitachi over this gun but just couldn't I was skeptical when I found this online for $120 new, and with a very nice case even, but decided to go with it anyway. The fit, finish, balance, and reliability are great. so-far so-good. I wonder why Hitachi can't use paint that lasts more than two weeks? Do you think it's that lead toy-paint they use in China? Overall I'm very pleased with this Milwaukee nailer. I only wish their framing nailer came with a similar case... I'd buy it immediately if it did. You would think contractors would insist on a case to keep their tools protected and out of the shop? Now if Milwaukee steps up their market coverage with pneumatic nailers and manufactures a siding gun, a cap-nailer, and maybe a coil-framing gun??? I think they will do very well.
Good price, good gun

We are on our sixth mansard roof with this gun and like it a lot. The old Senco stays in the bin. It has a good feature set - dial-a-depth, single shot or bump fire selector, swivel exhaust, quick setting exposure gauge, etc. Light weight. I hope they come out with a siding nailer. Need one.
Compare the prices of the other roofing nailers and you will see that this is a great buy.
One thing it needs is a rafter hook. Just added one so I can hook it in my hammer loop when I need both hands. On a 12/12 we are not setting anything down on the roof.
With our 15g gas compressor we find that we can fill the tank, shoot 3-4 rows, then fill again. Love the quiet - and we save gas and reduce our carbon footprint (which is sooo Green.)
first time roofing gun user...

To be honest, I have never owned a roofing gun before so I have nothing to compare it to but the price was nice so I thought i would give it a whirl and see if it would speed up a roofing project I had. 36 squares later...worked perfectly, I especially like how light the gun is. It never jammed once and the only time it ever misfired was when I stuck some coils that had were misshapen and sort of "out-of-round" Hope this helped.
Great tool!

Unbeatable for the price. Lightweight, easy to load. Great warranty. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!
Milwaukee Nail Gun

The nail gun was perfect! It works great. It took a very short amount of time to arrive at my home.
works well

Bought this to help reroof my garage which is now complete. At first I had a terrible time with jamming - basically every other shot or two would not feed and I would have to dry fire to get the gun to cycle. Tried oil which helped but not for long. The shots that did go in were fine. After a while I turned up the pressure (to something around 100 psi - don't remember exactly) and the feed problems went away and the gun worked flawlessly. I had set the pressure on the low end at first because I did not want to overdrive the nails. The depth setting didn't seem to affect the depth as much as the way the gun was held - may be obvious to some but I learned that if I pressed the gun into the shingle throughout the shot, I tended to overdrive more nails. Holding the gun a little looser and going quickly from shot to shot resulted in flush nails. I have used other roofing nailers in the past and this one worked just as well or better and was less expensive.
An Awesome Nailer!

I bought this based on Amazon reviews. I was looking for a nailer for putting down cement board in my kitchen and soon putting down new roof. With its first thousand nails put in through 1/2" hardibacker board, I have to say this thing is surprisingly light and powerful. I compared it to my friend's $300 Hitachi, and he even had to admit that the Milwaukee had the Hitachi beat in every way that matters. The adjustable and removable shingle stop is a nice feature as well. I just can't find anything bad to say about this nailer, and it even comes with some cool sunglasses for working up on the roof.
great buy

was looking for a used roofing nail gun....found out about the special amazon was having on this milwaukie gun.... read the reviews and decided to purchase....i have finished my 26 sq roof and a storage shed,,,over 8000
nails....had 2 jams.....some of the coils were not quite even, so that caused the jams.... loads easily, lightweight...
i have used 1 1/4 and 1 3/4 nails....both works great....even at the regular price, this is a top of the line coil nailer; worth the money
can't buy nails for it.

I was very disapointed with this roofing nail gun because you can't buy nails that work in it. The nails I order that were suppose to be for this gun did not work. The gun jamed after every shot. I called the manufacture of Milwakee tools to find out where I can get the nails for this gun. They said they stopped making this gun and they didn't know where I could get nails for it. I went all over looking for nails to fit this gun with no luck. So if you buy this gun you'll have to use it as a paper weight.
Milwaukee has a hit on their hands!!

After all the nailers I've used, this one has become my favorite. More features than any other nailer and at a better price. No malfunctions or misfires to date. I could not even suggest an improvement. Great job on this tool Milwaukee! I'll be ordering more.
