Very Poor TV Performance

I bought this because I wanted to be able to play DVDs and watch public TV in case of a power outage. The DVD portion seems to work pretty good but the audio is rather poor. I suppose that is acceptable however considering the size.
I am bothered by the terrible TV Tuner performance. It is supposed to be a digital tuner. I can only get 4 stations and they all come in really grainy and barely legible. I hooked up an external antenna and got only marginally better performance. It is almost completely useless for this purpose.
The owners manual that comes with it was written by an idiot. Most of the manual is devoted to how to use the DVD player. Only a few pages are for the TV tuner and it is written so poorly it does more to confuse than to help!
I am now wanting to return it and am awaiting a response from the Amazon seller I bought it from.

Recently we had a power outage here in Hawaii,because of the earthquake. Yup, no explainations for the public from the TV stations simply because I didn't have a way to watch and the television(except for the National Emergency station)stations didn't have a way to broadcast. Now I am taking care of my half of the problem. IF it happens again...

I have used many portable DVD Players but this was the first one with a nice antennae. Great for watching sports, or bringing to sports games.
Disappointed in TV performance 2008-01-04
I was very excited when I found this TV - DVD portable player, only to be disappointed in the TV performance. I bought it because it was perfect for my multi task morning program. While watching my favorite program on my new portable TV, I would pop in my exercise video and exercise. By the time my new portable tv comes on, the exercise program is finished or time runs out trying to get the tv to play. It takes at least 20 minutes to warm up and start playing. What a disappointment!

A pesar de ser un dispositivo muy versatil, ya que dispone de dvd y TV a la vez, su recepción de canales con su antena interna es pésima.
La unica forma que se puede observar tv de forma decente, es conectandole una conexion de cable-tv, ya que con antenas aéreas su recepción es de muy mala calidad, en donde pierde constantemente la sintonización y presenta constantemente problemas de barridos y basura en pantalla.
Si la intensión de uso de este item es como tv como factor principal, si no es asi, sus funciones de dvd y mp4 se comportan de forma aceptable.

misrepresented junk! 2007-06-21
this does not have a digital atsc tuner as advertised. the only reason i bought this model is because ntsc tuners will be obsolete in a couple years. guess what tuner this actually has -yup- ntsc. don't buy this for it's digital atsc tuner, you will be sorely disappointed. this is going back ASAP. no idea how dvd performs because i never tried it.
