Be Very Cautious About Buying a Canon DC100 2007-05-12
1st, I bought the camera and then all the accessories so I had well over $500 invested. It doesn't even come with a blank disk or an extra battery.

I spent thousands of dollars on a trip to Germany, Austria and Venice Italy. Purchased the camera because of its high rating, superior lense and image stabilizer that my last digital camera didn't have. I carefully read the entire users guide because I like to use all the features. Camera operated fine for the length of one DVD RW, then it wouldn't read any of the other disks of the same brand. Spent money and tried other disks to no avail. Then downloaded contents of the disk to a laptop, and reused the disk - that worked fine - one time. Ended up having to borrow someone elses camera.

The movie and pictures I did get to take were grainy and the stablizer didn't help a whole lot. This camera is a major disappointment so beware.

DVD Camcorder 2007-01-22
The features of the camcorder are user friendly. The problem encountered was camcorder failure to initialize the DVDs---unable to playback on DVD player.

Butterfly Photo was accomodating for product return/exchange.

I have loved everything about the camcorder, except that the CDs only record 30 min. at a time. I us it alot due to I have a one year old and she is very cute!!

Canon DC100 Review 2007-01-08
I like it for the size and convenience. I think the zoom is good as well. The only problem that I have found is that when recording on the slower setting(which gives you more time on a disk), it is not recognized by the computer or the dvd player. You have to play it thru the recorder. But overall, I am happy with the purchase. It fits in my jacket pocket and is perfect for kids ball games and other activities!

Really like it!! 2007-01-07
I just bought this camcorder and I love it. I'm not very computer savvy and its easy to use... easy to upload the videos to the computer....easy to burn them to dvd. I highly recommend it!

Canon DC100 2008-07-18
Cool camera. DVD-Rs work great but I'm having difficulties initializing rewritable. I don't think its the camera but more me figuring it out. Also seems to be picky on what brand the disk is. Bottom line I bought the camera from a store that sold it to me as a display model. 145 bucks I give it to the kids and are making great movies! A good camera but don't expect a lot of bells and whistles.

Not satisfied for the price 2007-10-18
I have only had the camera for less than a year and it just stopped working. The pictures were not that good but ok and the video had problems focusing on the subject. Especially for the price.

Not the best for your money 2007-05-24
I purchased this camcorder for myself. I was not impressed at all. It was better than having to use a tape camcorder & worry about possible taping over important footage, but the video quality was not impressive at all. For this price, I'd expect more. I returned mine & am currently thinking about a Sony.

Very poor quality in low light 2007-05-16
this camcorder cannot record in low or artificial light environment; the image is so bad that the faces become unrecognizable. Night shot or any other settings are competely useless. Bottom line: this DC100 is piece of junk

Top product not so easy to use 2007-05-14
Canon's DC100 DVD Camcorder comes recommended as the top product of it's type and best buy. You can use it straight out of the box on automatic settings but it's a bit more difficult to set up for viewing on TV and computer than one might imagine. Not exactly a plug and play item. It's a hassle in many respects to learn how to use all the functions and to perform ordinary tasks. However for ease of use and convenience in size as far as filming go, I can't imagine there is a better item at a better price.

Review: ... "Click! The No Nonsense Guide to Digital Cameras" is misnamed. It covers a lot more than just cameras. In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."
