Amazing toy and amazing price.

I bought this about six months ago, but waited to write this review until I'd really found out how well this hovercraft works on a variety of surfaces. I was kind of skeptical when I saw how cheap this was, but it was worth the risk and $35! This is a super fun toy. It is fast, and a little challenging to drive, which makes it a lot more fun. It works extremely well on smooth large surfaces. It doesn't work well on sidewalks and roads though-the small bumps in these surfaces are enough to flip the hovercraft. I'm not extremely pleased with the hovercraft's water performance, it is fairly slow and unexciting. I DO like that this toy is practically waterproof though-I've driven it on snow and ice, which is a blast cause it slides around a lot, and I didn't have to worry about it getting wet. I've even flipped it into a pool and as soon as I got it flipped back over it turned back on again and worked fine. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone who loves r/c vehicles, this is a unique and fun toy.
LOVE IT!!

well......my big kid "hubby" LOVES this, I would say to take this to a big field to really get the enjoyment. You can't use it in your living room as it gets a bit crazy, the thing is amazing, tons of power and it is unstopable!! you will love it, what a deal too!!
Ideal conditions toy

Seems to work ok. The battery life seemed to last just long enough. Operation was tricky - hard to control - not much fun inside the house. We've only had it outside once on hard packed snow. Where it was level and smooth, the hovercraft really flew - it was a blast. Judging from the little experience we've had with it, I don't think it would be much fun on water or uneven terrain. The dead weight of the inactive front wheel seemed to cause control problems. Sometimes it was more fun to drive it backwards. Overall, don't make this the crown jewel if you're gift giving.
Great fun

This car is awesome! My son who is 7 yrs. old loves it, he loves how fast it moves.
However, it doesn't have the best battery life, it's good for about an hour and then you have to charge the battery for about 18 hours before you can use it again.
We have never tried to use it on water so I don't know how well it works there. But it does move quite well around the house. Like most remote control cars, the thrill will wear off and it will sit in the closet with the rest of the remotes and cars. BUT in the meantime he is enjoying this new car that he purchased all by himself with his Amazon Christmas money!
The car is good quality, durable and fun.
Nice toy.

I got this toy because I just wanted to get something different. I didn't get disappointed.
Flips over easily, turns unexpectedly.

We couldn't find the Terraniac this holiday season and settled on the Air blade as an alternative for my son. We should have waited!
The Air Blade is pretty much useless unless you use it indoors on a smooth floor or in the garage on very smooth concrete. My son is very disappointed. He'd much rather have another R/C, even one that costs much less (like his little brother's Trak Attack). Normal asphalt and concrete are too rough! The smallest bump or surface imperfection will send Air Blade air born. This usually results in an unexpected 90 degree turn. Worst case, the Air Blade flips over due to forward momentum and the bump induced turn.
This is not operator error either. My son can handle other RCs just fine. I've used it and found the same behavior. Drive forward a few feet then it hits a small imperfection and turns or flips. This is either on the concrete driveway, or the asphalt cul de sac.
We've exchanged it once and found the replacement had the same defective nature. (we found out after the fact that RC's can only be exchanged for the same model. RCs cannot be returned. What a scam this is). This notice is on the store's receipt. The receipt notice is also useless since you only see the receipt AFTER you've bought the darn thing.
If I can't get a return for store credit, I'll attempt to contact the manufacturer for resolution.
The Plus side:
This RC does seem very durable and able to handle crashes and flips. But this in no way makes this toy worth the money.
son barely used it

10 minute toy

this thing is pretty hard to control. The surface the toy is on needs to be very smooth for it to work. Our street is too rough. we didn't bother with the pool and the battery went dead right away. it's a flop, but i think it was only $20.
Not perfect, but pretty good!

I've never had an RC hoovercraft so I don't really have anything to compare this product to, but its a pretty fun toy if you don't set unrealistic expecatations. It only hoovers less than a centimeter off the ground, so its not really going "WOW" you with the hoover effect. The hoovering does get the job done. The great thing is that it comes with a battery pack + charger, a must with a product like this. The controls are pretty simple, only 2 buttons are used. It does seem kind of ackward at first, but its not hard once you get the hang of it. This thing moves very fast, and that is both a plus and a minus. Unless you walk closey behind it, it will quickly get out of range of the remote. I estimate the range at approx. 15 feet. It a pretty durable product, as the tires also act as bumpers to prevent damage and they can take a good beating. I used this in my backyard and it bumped into all sorts of objects (I recommend keeping pets and unsuspecting people away from this thing to prevent harmful collisions). The unit has a good weight is pretty stable and never flipped over. I haven't tried it on water yet, as I am a bit skeptical if it would actually float, but it works best on a hard flat surface.
PROS:
* Very fast
* Comes with rechargable battery pack
* Good Size (over a foot long)
* Pretty durable
CONS:
* 2 Buttons controls are a bit ackward
* Short range of remote
* May be dangerous to small animals/unsuspecting people
Very fun but hard to control

I've just received the toy today, and I'm amazed how enjoying it's. The hovercraft is definitely nice to have for "grown up kids" (and probably regular kids too).
It's pretty big, fast, and looks really durable. However there are several catches:
* You'll need a flat surface for maximum performance. Then it'll be very fast, actually too fast. But it's more fun when you're just barely able to control it.
* The batteries take 4-5 hours to charge and only 10-15 minutes to discharge (it literally sucks the power from them). But I guess that's normal for this toy.
* You'll need to buy a different model if you want to play with two at a time (there is no channel switch, the other model operates on a different channel).
Nevertheless I'm very happy with this purchase, even though I not be able to play frequently with it.
