If the belt clip is improved, this would be perfect 2006-12-04
This case is great -- its easy to open, slim, and see-through. But I have one major gripe, the belt clip really blows. It eventually develops a gap between it and the case and will come free from your belt. Mine did numerous times when running across the street with my dogs and luckily my ipod survived the stuntman like fall in traffic. I bet Contour Case designers will read this comment -- please fix this flaw and you'll have a PERFECT product.

Great product overall 2006-07-31
This product is as advertised. It provides a strong protective case for your 60 GB Video iPod. It fits very well. The openings for earphones is large, as is the Hold butten. I take the iPod out of the case when I charge it, so I agree with other reviewers that it could be nice if this opening was a door versus an opening. Otherwise, a fine product!

Exactly what I was looking for 2006-07-14
First, this case is beautiful (to me anyway). I've looked at sleeves, silicon slip cases, clear acrylic cases, flip cases, etc. And none was exactly right. This one is.

The looks of this case are excellent, and the black case would look equally elegant on a white iPod as on the black iPod.

My biggest need is a well fitting case that I can easily and repeatedly remove the iPod to place in my dock - and not scratch the iPod with stitches, sharp edges, etc. And, I don't want the iPod to be loose in the case (my biggest complaint with many of the acrylic cases).

This case feels great, fits great and looks great. Yes, the openings are large, but I didn't get this expecting no dirt would ever get anywhere.

My only complaint: the case I received has a small imperfection on the front below the click wheel that looks like a vertical scratch (but is actually inside the acrylic). Not worth returning it over that though - I'm sure the case itself will get scratched as I use it.

Excellent case to protect your video ipod 2006-06-13
I'm very satisfied with this case. But first the bad: 1) It scratches easily. I handle my incased ipod with kid gloves and it still shows minor scratches on the surface. But anybody who has the 5G ipods knows that the ipod itself, especially the black one shows a lot of scratches compared to prior ipods. I think most people would prefer the scraches be on your $25 case vs your ipod so I can't complain too much. 2) The belt clip is a bit difficult to use. It comes off the case very easily. But when you do use it, it can be difficult to remove it from your belt. That's not to say it can't be done & it's not an issue that should keep you from this fine product. It's a task that will probably require both hands though. 3) The opening for the connection on the bottom of the ipod might be too large for some. For those of you who like the most possible coverage on your ipod might be a little disappointed with the case, but for those who prefer a bigger opening so that you can easily attach to accessories, this will be a plus.

Now for the good (and in my mind, there is a lot more good vs. bad): The thing that made me purchase this one is the looks. The only other case I've used is the evo from iskin, which is a rubbery type of substance that seems to act as a magnet for all sorts of dirt. I prefer the Showcase b/c the clear face allows you to show off the ipod itself. Personally, I really don't like the cases that hide the ipod under flaps of leather or with mounds of rubber. The ipod is a beautiful piece of machinery & should be treated as such. The hard surface does not have the dirt problem I had with the rubbery case. There is rubber that goes around the edge to add protection from drops, but the rest of it is clear. This case allows for complete ease of removing the ipod which you can do by simply moving two switches on the side of the case. The headphone jack is accessible enough to be able to fit l-shaped headphones.

All in all, this is a great case, esp for the money. If you are one of those who prefer the absolute most protection for you ipod, then there may be other options that are better for you. I think that there are probably more sturdier cases & ones that provide more complete coverage of the ipod. This case is great if you like being able to access the ipod easily, use accessories with the case, and show off the beauty that is the ipod.

As good as it gets, but not perfect 2006-05-20
Definitely much better than other cases I've tired for my iPod, but it's a bit flimsier than it looks in the picture (this is NOT something akin to a Sports Walkman).

In particular, the belt clip is very annoying in that it has a hook shape at the bottom where it slides into your belt. If you wear it on your gym pants, for example, the hook will snag onto your drawstring when you try to slip the iPod off, and the belt clip will come off of the case. You'll have to put the iPod down somewhere and use two hands to pry the belt clip off of your pants and to snap it back onto the case.

But overall, it's a nice case with an excellent latch mechanism. I haven't found anything better out there, despite several tries.

**ADDENDUM** After less than two years of light use, the latch no longer stays shut and my iPod keeps falling out of the Showcase. I asked Contour to replace it, but they said the warranty had expired. Today my iPod fell out of the case on the treadmill and got smashed. When I replace my iPod, I will NOT be buying a new Showcase -- or anything else from Contour Design.

I wish to downgrade my rating of this case to 1 star. If it doesn't hold the iPod, it's of no use.

AVOID THIS PRODUCT.

Great Case! 2007-05-15
Previously I had a 3G iPod and was using the iSkin case for it. I loved that iPod and loved that case. Unfortunately, the iPod was stolen. :(

So upon receipt of a new 5G 80GB iPod, I went hunting for a new case. My 2 prerequisites were 1: easy to put iPod in and out, since my boombox won't hold an iPod in the case and 2: provide great protection since I use it everyday.

A friend has the iSkin case for the 5G and I just didn't like it. It's too hard to take the iPod in and out. I tried a few other and didn't like them. Then I got this one and it was settled. It's very easy to take in and out and it provides great protection. I highly recommend it!!

Excellent Product 2007-03-15
I really like the fact that it opens like a book. Excellent product. Takes great care of IPod.

Well made case, although I don't use it 2007-02-24
I bought this for traveling mostly. I prefer the tactile feel of the actual iPod, rather than this case, for everyday use. That said, it is still recommended. A little expensive for what it is, but still worthwhile if you are prone to accidents.

One of the Best 2007-01-15
I've worked my way through many iPod cases (And you really should get one. They work.) Simply put, this is one of the best. First, it is a hardcover, which I have always found to be superior. Second, it opens like a book. Beware iPod cases that slide in from the top or side. They will scratch your screen. Finally, the front is entirely clear. It's nice to use a case that puts the iPod on display. I recommend it.

Showcase Video 60 2007-01-04
I got this for my 80gb ipod, and I really like it. I've dropped my ipod a few times, and nothing happened to it. It protects the screen nicely, and the case closures seem to be holding up fine (its been about 4months since I got it).

I would recommend this product to other people. I didn't give it 5 stars because unless the thing makes me breakfast, it can't be worth 5 stars ;).
