they just keep breaking
2007-12-10
I'm on my way to my third adapter...unless you will be using your laptop on a desk and never move it, this WILL break and it won't take long...I think they were designed to break...
I've just waste my money

This items was terrible, first I don't know why it has an adapter on the end of the cable, second the adaptor at the end of the cable doesn't fit completely, and just to make my day better the good damn ADAPTOR at the end of the cable works for just a week... By the way HP's website help is terrible it's almost worst than the ADAPTOR at the end of the cable. People buy MAC!.
Replacement AC Adapter
2007-10-30
The AC Adpater that came with my laptop stopped working. It came to the point that I had to hold the plug in myself or jam it against the wall. I use my old desktop now more than anything else, but with this new power cord my life is free of a lot more wires.
Why add an adapter to the end
2007-09-24
I just dont understand why there needs to be an adapter on the end and why does the adapter look like it doesnt fit all the way onto the cord. There's an unpleasant gap of metal showing. It also seems like it does not charge as fast as my previous HP 65w charger that came with my HP laptop.
lasted 2 months

I bought this adapter directly from HP 2 months ago. It has been finicky for the last month, but now has completely quit working. I called HP to have it replaced, but was informed that because it was out of the 21 day warranty that I was out of luck, but they would be happy to sell me another one for $70.
If you choose this adapter all I can say is good luck. HP's customer service was completely worthless.
ac adapter for hp pavillion - worst ever
2008-04-26
Sure you bought a cheap $10.00 radio or such when you were a kid. Sometimes the ac adapter(power supply) would break after a few months. Sometimes though they seemed to outlast the radio. You could always pick one up for almost nothing if it did break. A computer is a very vital tool in todays world. HP knows this. You pay $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 for a top of the line computer just to have the the ac adapter break within weeks. Our Pavillion is about a year old and this is our third adapter. And that`s after I patched them up to make them work a while longer. I took them apart and there is a thin metal connector inside that breaks. It is not designed to take the heat or the strain. Radio Shack asked us $100.00 for a new one. I said HELL NO! We bought one at Best Buy for under $40.00 Now our Best Buy only has the $100.00 one. We are buying these off ebay now for around $25.00 with shipping. They last just as long and you can buy three of them for what local stores want for their junk. Amazon or Ebay is the way to go. They will not last long but you will still have a little change in your pocket. HP should be held accountable for their junk.
very good product worth for money

i had to buy one bcos the one that comes with HP laptop - is tore-down. I purchased HP adapter from HP site for $70, then i saw the amazon price but the adapter is simillar to HP one. it works really great, all i am looking at - i get what i want at lower price. This is worth to buy.
Sorry I purchased this item.......

I should have listened to the other reviews of this product.....I thought I was purchasing "original" equipment (I don't think HP makes the original power cord to my HP Compaq nc6120 at least I haven't found it). This power cord comes in 3 pieces. You have an apdapter plug that actually fits on the end of the power cord and that part goes into you "line in" port. ***It NEVER makes a good connection....let me re-phrase that to "it did at first" but now (4 weeks later) when I plug in the power cord it NEVER registers that I have hooked a power line in and it keeps draining my battery. I have "jiggled" the line in, "twisted" the line and everything else I know to do............Why would HP make such a piece of @#$(#*$&#(!!!!!!!! $40.00 GONE!!!
garbage
2008-02-14
I bought adapter in December and it has failed already. After a month it started acting erratically and sometimes it would charge my laptop and sometimes it would not. I had to hold it at a certain angle for it to charge. Last week after tow months of use it stopped working - it died. The quality of the adapter is poor. When it was new the pieces did not fit together as snug as they should and that is a big no no when it comes to electrical stuff. Based on other comments I am not alone in feeling this product is a piece of garbage. I won't buy another HP product again.
unreliable

Much like some of the other people mentioned, the AC adapter that came with the notebook became unusable after just a few months. You had to hold it in to get it to charge, and eventually the wires became exposed making it hazardous. We bought the replacement adapter and that worked fine for just over a month, but then the same problems started happening again. Of course it's past the 30 day mark so it's too late to return it now. I would recommend looking for a universal power adapter with a sturdy hard plastic tip instead of this one. It may cost more in the short term, but it's cheaper than buying a new AC adapter every 2 months.
