I don't use the product but my girlfriend does. She says it works fine. It doesn't get all the hairs and it does hurt, but its the first epilator that she's ever used so she has no other experience to compare it to.

I bougth a similar product about a year ago, from the beginning it didn't work well until it broke with no apparent reasons. Most of my life I had use wax and now with the Braun 5270 Silk-épil X'elle Body System Epilator, hair removal, braun, silk-epil, best hair remover ever, epilation, grooming, bikini, health and beauty my legs feel smooth, they look great and I use it very 2 weeks. I highly recommend this product. Is a BRAUN brand!

After not having removed leg hair for well over a decade, I had them professionally waxed. The procedure cost $115 and the result lasted less than a week. So I bought this epilator, and it works well. My legs stay clean for a couple of weeks, and there is not much discomfort (though I have little discomfort when waxing as well). I have not had any problems with having to re-do areas, I keep the epilator perpendicular to the skin and barely touching, as in the directions, and I go slow. The biggest problem for me is that the unit gets quite hot after a while, so I can't get both legs done at once.
Not For Me but Obviously For Others...

I have thin blond hairs on my legs. I tried this and it hurt quite a lot and it didn't remove very well at all.(I had to run it over the same area on my leg several times and even then it was not completely smooth). On top of that, i got the most horrid red bumps on the areas i used this product on, which was thankfully remedied with severe globs of jergens lotion. I think this works best on people with thicker hair maybe? because then the device can really grab the hairs. Anyway, you will be pleased to know that I returned it and got a refund (at least i was). Works great, removes very short hairs. The only problem is I got a couple of ingrown hairs afterwards on my legs. It also can occasionally break a hair off, but it's easy to go over spots you missed.

I hadn't heard about anyone using an epilator since the old torture springs of the old 1980's epilady until I met a woman from South America who told me epilators were very common there. Since I am always looking for better methods of hair removal, I researched and read all of the reviews for different epilators and decided on the Braun 5270. I've had the epilator for about a month now and I love it. It's easy to use, there's minimal mess, and the results last a lot longer than shaving and just as long as waxing. The light and the other attachments are useful too! I usually use it in front of the t.v. in the evening after a bath, then I follow with a moisturizer.
The poor reviews this product has received due the lack of pain tolerance is unfortunate. I've been waxing at home for a while so the pain was not an issue for me. Actually, the more I used the machine the less painful it was. I will say that if you are prone to ingrown hairs from shaving or waxing then you should definitely exfoliate regularly in addition to using a product like "No Bump" which can be purchased at Sally's Beauty Supply. I highly recommend this product to anyone who doesn't like the mess of home waxing or the price of salon waxing. For those who don't wax regularly the pain will probably be a bit much to get used to at first.

This is a great product. It is painful at first, but with continued use, the pain is gone. It is totally worth the money...I was surprised to find that it actually works. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to remove hair...while the hair removal is not permanent, it has drastically reduced the number of times I have to shave a week, which is very nice. I am very pleased with my purchase.

First, let me say that I was very hesitant to buy an epilator at all because I was one of the victims of the original Epilady back in the 80's which was a spinning coil that grabbed a bunch of hair and ripped. Yes, it was as bad as it sounds. I remember sitting outside in the snow hoping the cold would numb my legs enough to deal with the pain. It didn't. Money wasted...
Fast forward 20 years...MAJOR leaps in technology and design were made with epilators! I bought the Braun 5270 because I liked the idea that the massaging rollers that would help to dull some of the pain. Well, I didn't even need that attachment. I started with it, but quickly went to the pro clip and maximum efficiency. I did my entire legs without a problem. Sure, it pinched a little, but you kinda get used to it.
After my legs, I was so confident, I went on to my bikini line. The top part, I had no problem with. It wasn't as painful as I had expected. Inside my thighs, though, was another story. I haven't been able to conquer that or my underarms yet. It feels like it's getting caught on my skin even if I pull the skin tight in both of those areas.
Ladies - if you had the torture device know as the original Epilady in the 80's and are hesitant about ever owning one again, DON'T BE! This is nothing compared to that thing! I wish I would have gotten one of these sooner, but I'm so glad I finally did!
I've read a lot of reviews that said that it is painful, but bearable. I'd say it's more than bearable, it's more annoying than painful. That was my experience anyway. And just to put it in perspective, I've only waxed once...recently did full legs and full bikini. I'm so glad I won't have to waste my money on that again!
I hope this review helps! If you can stand the minor annoyance of tweezing, or the pain of waxing, then buy this. I don't think you will be disappointed. The massaging rollers do help, but it also keeps the tweezers from getting to all of your hair. So, it helps, but is less efficient.
Overall, I give this product 5 stars. I think it's great! I wish I bought it years ago, and if I had to do it over again, I'd do it in a heartbeat! Worth every penny!

Hello prospective buyer!
I bought this product only a month ago and it is amazing. I had been postponing purchasing this for over a year, and now i regret it. I really didnt have to go through all the difficulties before. This is a wonderful product that i recommend every woman needs. I know people say that it makes a loud noise, but thats negligible once you use the product. I wudnt say that it has a downside at all. Its a great investment.
Bearable Pain... 2008-07-23
A friend of mine recommended this to me since I like waxing and this would save me $$$ in waxing products. I am used to wax my bikini area and legs, but not my armpits (I shave my armpits).
As soon as I got this, I took a warm shower and exfoliate the areas I was going to use this product. I used it on my bikini area and it worked really nice as if I had waxed. The pain was horrible; it was worst than waxing. However, it was a bearable pain. Now, when I started using it under my arms, ooooooouchhhhhhh!!! It hurts like nothing else. It was very painful, but I managed to finish the job under both arms. It took me over 30 mins to do everything because I was taking deep breaths and taking breaks as well. I didn't have a chance to do my legs like I wanted too because I was burning under my arms. It is next day and my armpits are still red and still has some hair in it. I guess I will wait a few days to get back under my arms with the epilator. I will try getting my legs done tonight.
It is not a bad product. You just need to learn how to use it and bear the pain. My friend made a good point about all this. She said using the epilator in my bikini area didn't hurt much because I am used to waxing that area and the hair is not so thick. Now, under my arms, the hair was thicker from shaving and therefore the pain was greater. Also, if you stretch your skin as you move the epilator, the pain is also minimal.
