Good for everyday use
2008-06-18
I got this DVD and also the perfect pregnancy video. This one is great to use everyday. I have been active my whole life; recently doing gymnastics, karate and swimming. So I was in good shape before I got pregnant. I continued karate during the first trimester and then moved at the beginning of the second trimester and took a break from regular exercise. Then I got this DVD and started doing it everyday. I've never done yoga or pilates but Tracey explains it well. The only thing I can't understand is how to do kegel exercises, I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. For the workout you need three pillows, a towel (I use a workout mat though), and weights. I like how sweet and encouraging Tracey is. There are some sound level changes but it's not a problem for me. I always feel better after the workout. It's not like a karate workout, but I can feel my muscles toning and stretching which is nice. It's a calming and soothing workout. I bought the perfect pregnancy workout DVD to have something a little more challenging if I felt up to it. I've done it on the beginner level and I definitely felt the workout later that day and the next morning.
So if you would like a nice workout that is easy to do everyday, then this is a great choice. If you can't make up your mind (like I couldn't), then I would recommend getting two videos to supplement each other. I am happy with the combination I got: Tracey's 3 in 1 and the Perfect Pregnancy Workout. This way I have choices and if the perfect workout gets too easy there are two more advanced levels to do. But when I am tired or don't feel like getting too sweaty, I do the 3 in 1 workout.
good low impact stretch

This video was simple and easy to do especially in the later part of pregnancy where movement become a little restrictive and my back much tighter. The video is really easy to follow and Tracey's happy manner perks one up if your feeling a little low. It only took 40 mins to do and great to start my day or to do when I was wanting a little time out. I really enjoyed it. Simple and effective.

Safe and challenging pregnacy video

As a physical therapist, I highly recommend Tracey Mallett's 3 in 1 pregnancy video to my prenatal and post partum patients looking for a safe workout for home. Tracey Mallett has designed an exercise program that is not only appropriate and challenging throughout your pregnancy, but can also be done postpartum. What a great value! Tracey takes the viewer through a full-body work out, integrating Pilates and Yoga to strengthen the abdominals, upper, and lower body (all important areas to keep in shape and stay strong for that new baby you are expecting). She offers safe and appropriate exercises for each trimester of pregnancy, while being sensitive to the needs of the expectant mother. This is a safe, yet challenging workout for expecting moms!
Relaxing exercise, great stretching

Very good exercise dvd, specially if you are interested in stretching and feeling refreshed. It helped me stay strong and feel pretty good. And must say even though it is slow paced exercise and I thought it does not help much I found out to be wrong. I have not exercised my last pregnancy and what a difference in how I felt. So, it does make difference even though sometimes you might feel like it does not, specially the stretching helped me feel very refreshed.
Best Pregnancy Fitness DVD

Tracey's upbeat personality made this a fave workout when I was pregnant. And as a Physical Therapist that also treats pregnant ladies, it is so important to follow certain exercise guidelines and precautions, which she considers throughout her video. Her cueing is excellent for muscles that we all need to get strong during (and after) pregnancy. I did regular cardio and Pilates throughout my pregnancy and still found the exercises challenging as long as I didn't "cheat" through them. The modifications she provides are great when an exercise proves to be too difficult. I highly recommend this video for all ladies that want a CHALLENGING but SAFE workout!!
I LOVE Tracey's dvds!!!

Excellent Video for Yoga/Pilate Beginners

I used this video before I was pregnant and all during my pregnancy (minus the few weeks in the first trimester where I couldn't do anything!). It's a great workout to do if you are new to pilates and yoga. What I loved about the video is that it challenged me and I was able to modify the moves based on where I was during my pregnancy. I also liked that fact that weights were incorporated into the upper body workout and that the cool down portion of the video showed how you can do these stretches with a partner. For someone who isn't extremely flexible, it helps to have a partner put a little added pressure into a stretch so you can get the maximum benefit of it.
Amazing DVD Tracey is a true pro

This by far one of the best Pregnancy DVD's on the market. Tracey is a wonderful, upbeat and very sincere instructor. A true pleasure to workout with and love her accent! I have used this DVD for both pregnancies and I swear this is what helped me recover so quickly!
The first section is for your core and [...] with mainly Pilates and some Yoga exercises. The second section is lower body which helped me build strength and keep me strong for my delivery. The Third section was upper body with light weights and the last section which I really loved and so did my husband was the partner stretching. The stretches helped my lower back issues. I am near the end of my second Pregnancy and still have the energy to keep doing the video a few times a week. This is a perfect conditioning workout through your pregnancies!

A little slow paced for me. This workout would be better for women who are not active on a regular basis.
Challenging

This video is more Pilates than yoga, though there are a few yoga elements. I find this workout quite challenging and have taken to doing bits and pieces of it that I can manage. If you're out of shape and/or very pregnant, I think you could easily overdo it with this DVD. I personally prefer the "Yoga Pregnancy" DVD, which is much gentler.
One thing that confused me is that this DVD is labeled "3-in-1." I don't get why. Only one segment provides alternate movements for heavily pregnant women. For the other segments you're on your own as far as finding an appropriate level and adapting your efforts.
The last segment focuses on partner exercises, which are fine but realistically, I'm not going to get my husband to do those with me.
I'd recommend this disc primarily for women who are already quite fit before they become pregnant.
