2.5 of these have broken so far
2008-04-14
I bought two of these, and within a year both had broken. I was able to get a replacement for one of them, but recently the USB connection on the new one stopped working. Now I can play files, but can't change what's on the player.
Even before the players broke I wasn't very fond of them. The battery life wasn't anywhere near 10 hours, and the toggle switch has a weird sensitivity -- I was constantly over or undershooting the mark with it. The voice recorder worked okay when I spoke directly into it.
Of course, the low price is pretty impressive for all the features. If only those features actually worked!
I'm content . . .

Well, I've never had an Ipod, so I too don't really have much to compare against. But I'm not worried about having headphones jammed in my head the 18 hours I'm awake everyday! This is a good mp3 player! I didn't like the headphones that came with it so I went to walmart and bought some marshmellow soft ones. 20 bucks and make listening amazing! And you don't have to blare them or buy a booster because they block out sound quite well! Save your hearing...buy marshmellow earphones!
I'm happy with the amount of space in the 1GB drive. I recommend, as others did?, taking out the battery when not in use. For whatever reason the red LED light will somewhat flicker and flash for no apparent reason. I think it is supposed to do that whenever you push on the big play button (power) but when you just let it rest it will come on half-lit to full to off and repeat, etc. I don't think I read the directions but it definitely took me a little while to figure out how to play the music. Using the hold function also works well especially when riding a motorcycle...that and work were my reasons for buying this product and I'm happy with what I bought. Hope you will be too!
Great for a budget...

I lost my last 1GB MP3 player and never thought I would have the money to replace it, but was desperate enough to try anything that was reasonable. This has more sound options than my last one!
The directions are written in broken english, but aren't really necessary if you put you're mind to it. The backlight can be set to 1 color so it doesn't change with every button pressed, (which drove me nuts).
It claims the battery isn't used when plugged into the computer, but mine died so quickly that I now take it out whenever I'm not using the player...this has made it last considerably longer.
I'm very happily surprised at how well it works for how little I spent.
Perfect. A Flash Drive that works as an Mp3 player

This is a great player for the price. It's so simple to use, it's almost silly. No software to install, no programs to have to figure out. All you do is drag and drop your files, just like a flash drive.
The player can store any kind of data, but will only play Mp3 and WMA files. Any other type of data should be stored in folders, so the player doesn't hit a file type it doesn't recognize and shut off. If you buy this player from Digital Pulse, they offer website support and downloads for the player.
So far so good

I read a lot of bad reviews before I bought it, but it works great. Sure if you dont know much about mp3 players it may take some getting used to but works great.
Unless you have an IT degree - pass on this one.

The instructions are horrible is an understatement. They tell you nothing useful!
It took two of us, two days and nights just to figure out the basics. There are many features that I have not found out how to use. An internet search for instructions brought up nothing.
So one helpful thing I can pass on to those of you who do end up trying their luck on this product - press down on the toggle switch to get it to do anything. A very helpful hint the instructions didn't even bring up.
Had I known how difficult it was going to be - I would have passed on this one.
It would not talk to my Mac & when I took it to my sister's to use her PC ... it was still a difficult task to get it working.
That being said - if you do have an IT degree, go ahead and order it. The parts of it I could get to work - work fine.

I put a bunch of songs on this thing, and some of them will delete but most of them won't. I've been studying the unhelpful manual to no avail. Sometimes it refers me to the website, but it doesn't give an address. I can't even figure out what brand this thing is. It doesn't say anywhere on the player, in the manual, or on this website. So I dunno. It seems like it might not be friendly with mac osx? If anyone can tell me what brand makes this thing, or the website, or anything else helpful, please email me at tsmith18@nd.edu. :(
If only it had louder volume.

It's fun to use your mp3 player as a key chain, but a few things to know. First, the headphones crackled right out of the box (Cheap?). I just recently dropped my keys and the glass broke on the front. The volume of the music is quiet at max volume. The software really isn't needed to drag/drop songs to the "drive" which is a plus. Other than that, a great toy.
Easy to use, affordable and lightweight

This mp3 player is packed with useful features, like voice recording, FM radio, lyrics display, ID3 tag support, multiple color LCD. It looks very sturdy and the sound quality is good. The only drawback is that the earphone cord is not too long as I think it should be in order to put the player in your pants' pockets.
Good price for the functions

I just got mine yesterday. I tried music and FM radio functions and they seem fine to me. The sound quality is not bad. I agree the control is little bit hard but is still acceptable. Think about $20 for a 1GB Mp3/FM radio/voice recorder, it is a good deal. Only not sure how long it will last.
