Exactly what I was looking for

Received mine yesterday. Very well made. Agree the pad is a bit stiff, but nothing that detracts from an otherwise excellent product. I have seen much worse lap desks sell for much higher prices. I'm ordering another one for my girlfriend.

Overall, its works great, the bean bag is the only thing I would improve, as its a little stiff.

Quality Product

This is a quality product. Hard to find these days. I am very pleased with the lap desk. The wood is beautiful. I use it daily for sudoku puzzles and for storing my cat's favorite "fetch it" toy in one of the two storage boxs. I've seen similar imatation products in stores but they don't measure up to the Euro Wooden Lap Desk. This one is the real thing. I recommend it.

Beauty is indeed skin deep

I received this item as a Christmas gift. The desktop has a very nice finish on the wood and the small compartments in the upper corners are really handy. They are each big enough to hold a couple of pens/pencils. The lids of the compartments are sturdy and secure with the magnet closure.

Now for the negatives. The cushion underneath the desktop is basically a small tufted throw pillow. It's not the most stable base, but it's okay. It's secured to the desktop with Velcro. When I unpacked the item, one of the Velcro strips attached to the underside of the desktop was coming loose. They are glued and stapled...and not very well.

All in all, this item is functional and attractive. But if the quality doesn't improve, I wouldn't pay $40 for it myself.

This is the best lapboard desk I have found

We have owned this lapboard desk for about a year, and we have been very happy with it. My daughter takes it in the car and we use it at home. I have been pleased with the cushioning - and I like how it can be removed. The pen and pencil holders are very handy, and the lapboard is attractive. For the price I was very pleased with the quality and look of the item. It doesn't look like a child's lapboard.

disappointing

Mine was in the garbage within a month of receiving it.

Upon opening it, I was actually pleased with the work surface ... looked nice, good size and the pencil box holder was a added bonus to hold some small items .... like a pen.

That said, the pencil boxes are awkward to open, the cushion is too stiff and dosn't cover the entire bottom so it makes the thing off-blance and awkward. The deal breaker and what landed it in the trash was that one of the buttons on the cushion came off and those little, microscopic white styofoam "beads" where EVERYWHERE! And ... with all the static electricity from them, they're near impossible to clean up.

The concept isn't bad ... but the design specifics and quality are not good. I'm reluctant to buy another from Amazon or Maxi as a result!

The picture and the name "Euro" makes it seem like it's good quality but it's quite the opposite. The board is flimsy and thin, so thin that it feels like you'll cut yourself. The light is flimsy and doesn't adjust well, the pencil case almost broke trying to get it open and what I am most disappointed in is the bottom cushion. The "cushion" is this little flimsy detachable pillow is not even full so it does not sit comfortable on the lap or stabilizes enough for my laptop. I opened the box and was very disappointed and as I inspected it I noticed the desk was coming apart at the bottom. I thought I was getting a deal with the price but it wasn't even worth it. Don't waste your money on this piece of garbage.
