Editorial Review
"There are swaggering bands, bands who are in your face. And then there are bands who get hold of you somewhere else. I think it's a heart thing, an intimacy thing. Like you know them and they know you. I think we are one of those bands." So says Snow Patrol singer and chief songwriter Gary Lightbody.

And all the proof you'll need is Snow Patrol's new album Eyes Open, a collection of songs which more than makes good on the promise of its predecessor, 2004's two million selling Final Straw.

Values: beautiful powerful songs underscored by some of the most poignant and telling lyrics in rock. Eyes Open is Snow Patrol's post card from the cliff edge. It's going to be hard to ignore these songs in 2006.

Snow Patrol - Eyes Open 2007-12-31
I really like this cd a lot but some of my friends are not as crazy about it. The first 3 songs a excellent but it does tend to get pretty mellow into the album. Still, I have really enjoyed it!

Snow Patrol "Eyes Open" 2007-12-30
Another great CD by Snow Patrol. I like all the songs, but "Chasing Cars" is my favorite one.

No "Chocolate" or "Run", but a more consistent album from start to finish 2007-12-28
This album made my "Best Albums of 2006" list (see http://www.amazon.com/Best-Albums-of-2006/lm/R3A0M7FT9VW902/ref=cm_lm_byauthor_title_full).
I got into them on their last album, Final Straw which gets props for having one of the best songs EVER, "Chocolate". This album, however, is much more consistent and while "Chasing Cars" is one of the best songs of 2006 and also a major hit for them, I hope that others will listen to the album in its entirety because it really is ace.

Secret Space 2007-12-22
Snow Patrol's gold CD, their fifth, is my intro to the band. The single "Chasing Cars" is a slow song backed by a thundering guitar chorus that seems to turn off in midair, "Before we get too old, show me a garden that's bursting into life." "Shut You Eyes" is one of my favorite tracks that seems to percolate with lead singer Lightbody's voice mirroring his name, "You can imagine this place; yeah our secret space at will." "It's Beginning to Get to Me" is a good track except the repetitive guitar part plays like a hammer pounding with little variation. "You Could Be Happy" has a music box that plays, which is the most memorable part of the song for me. Martha Wainwright's voice sounds like a feminine echo on "Set the Fire to the Third Bar," "We'd share each other like an island, until exhausted close our eyelids." "The anger swells in my guts & I won't feel these slices & cuts," is well sung on "Open Your Eyes." "Eyes Open" is a pretty good CD. More varied musical ideas might have enhanced several of the tracks. But the lyrics are strong and the lead singer from Northern Ireland has an expressive delivery. Enjoy!

Gin Patrol or Snow Blossoms? 2007-12-18
At first sight of the title of my review it's clear I made a quick, snap conclusion on Snow Patrol. Sounding like the Gin Blossoms is not necessarily a good thing, but I do think they're a pretty decent band with some talent. With that being said, it seems Snow Patrol is riding the wave of success that Coldplay has firmly established.

Fantastic! 2008-05-28
Almost as good as the first album. Takes some getting used to but very nice nonetheless.

Snow Drifts 2008-04-09
The latest in bands from the other side of the Atlantic to mine introspection and melancholy into gold, Snow Patrol go for the jugular on their fourth album. The sound is epic and emotional, from the playful name-checking of Sufjan Stevens on "Hands Open" to the gentle lullaby of "You Could Be Happy," Snow Patrol announce that they are more than eager to shoot for the big leagues. While they seem like a slightly less dour Coldplay or a more melodic Travis, lead singer Gary Lightbody has now proven he can be a capable frontman and stand apart from the pack.

That is evident from the compelling first single, "Chasing Cars." Echoing atmospherics easily capture a listener's attention and the hook is killer. It's the best thing on "Eyes Open." What holds the band back is the over-reliance on ballads. Granted, heartbreak has been Snow Patrol's stock in trade since their debut, but a few more kickers like "Headlights On A Dark Road" would have made this a more intriguing album. The ballad heavy second half can almost be forgiven by Martha Wainwright, who contributes a haunting duet with "Set Fire To the Third Bar."

Overall, a strong modern rock album by a band that has a strong identity if not an entirely separate sound. Having a title song that all but screams U2 doesn't make your band sounds any less derivative than all the other sub-Coldplays out there. Lightbody and company need to find something that offsets Snow Patrol from the glut of "Grey's Anatomy"/TV Show mood-setter bands to really race across - as they put it on the final song on "Eyes Open," across "The Finish Line."

My favorite Snow Patrol CD 2008-02-18
Okay, I have to admit that I didn't even know Snow Patrol exisited until about a year ago when I met my husband. Yet still, this CD is a keeper! This is my jam CD when I'm cleaning the house or just lounging around. There really isn't a bad track on here. If you get this, whether you are a Snow Patrol fateful or newbie, you will not be disappointed.

Great CD 2008-02-06
Eyes Open by Snow Patrol is the best. I heard them on HDMTV in concert and went and bought the CD. It would be music both the young and old can listen too together. Thanks Snow Patrol - now move on to concerts so we can see you in person.

Awesome!! 2008-01-08
I absolutely love this CD!! As far as I'm concerned, there's not a bad song on it and that's very rare! I recommend this to everyone!
