Editorial Review
The Black and Decker 5-piece paintstick holds paint in the handle with no tray, no bending, and no mess. The PaintStick fills with paint and serves as an extension handle. The 3/8-inch perforated roller cover produces smooth and semi-smooth surfaces. The paint-can cover with fill tube takes paint directly from a one-gallon can. A handle holds enough paint to cover an 8-by-8-inch wall. The splatter shield snaps on for protection against spills. The extension handle easily reaches high areas without a ladder. Providing continuous paint delivery, the PaintStick makes painting up to three times faster. The fill tube takes place directly from the can and allows the user to easily put unused paint back into can. The PaintStick comes with Black & Decker's 2-year limited warranty.

Best Painting Product Ever!
2006-10-11
I have been a fan of the Paint Stick for 20 years now - yes the product has been out that long. It's ingeniously easy to use and almost mess free. It's fast, seriously cut your painting time by more than half. The cool part is painting right from the can, no pouring paint, no drips and no trays. It does take almost a full tube to get the roller going but you can roll most that paint out.
Someone who doesn't cover their floor (especially carpet) before painting has issues. Why in the world would you clean it if you through it away?
Cleaning is easy; just pump the handle to flush with water. I throw the rollers away because they are too hard to clean and they're only 5 bucks.
Good idea, doesn't work

Different to "suck" paint up into handle, more air gets drawn into handle than paint. It takes the first "handle full" to load brush, then back to trying to suck more into the handle apparatus; and in my opinion, it wastes a lot of paint. The cleanup is a multiple-step procedure, completely disassembling the whole thing, and it's incredibly messy. Replacement rollers are very costly, assuming that you can find them anywhere other than B&D online. But the bitter end for me was when after using the "system" only twice before, on the third try, paint squirted and oozed out the roller end caps no matter what I did (following the rather skimpy instructions on what to do in such a case). Ended up with paint dribbling all down the wall, all over carpet (yes, I should have covered the floor, but the whole idea behind this contraption was that it was not messy, didn't drip, and so drop cloths not really necessary .... yeah, I fell for that), all over myself, etc, etc. Threw the whole kit and kaboodle in the trash and went back to a plain ole tray and roller.
Overall good, but they need a better roller cover

This product worked as well as it said it would and I was happy with it. The clean up was not too bad. The one part that I was very disappointed in was the quality of the roller cover. It says that it was 3/8" nap, but it was a very thick 3/8" and it was just a knit cover that kept on shedding. So the whole time I was picking the lint off the wall. I haven't decided if I am going to use it for the final coat; maybe if I can figure out how to make a good roller cover work, by drilling holes in it.

The concept of this product is wonderful and I have used them twice before when they first came on the market. When they first came out they were great, however while this product is still great, the roller is of the worst cheap quality I have ever had the displeasure of using. Since it was bought online and I neglected to think about buying extras (as it was never an issue when it first came out) I was stuck with using the garbage roller and the job it did was poor poor poor. I had waited quite a while for it to come in the first place, so the idea that I would have to wait that long again for a better quality roller was discouraging as I wanted to paint and be ready for Christmas. I ended by buying a complete paint set with regular roller anyway, so I am extremely, no disgustingly unsatisfied with the product.
If this review keeps someone else from buying this product, then it will have been worth the time. I am extremely disappointed in Black and Decker which at one time was a very good name brand. I will re-think any further purchases in the future.
Surprisingly Good!

Having had a bad experience with another brand, I was somewhat reluctant to order this item, however I did. My fears were unfounded, as this product does exactly what it says it will, and it does it well! Only 4 stars because clean up is a chore. B&D does make a cleaner tool for the rollers, and it might be advisable. Definitely pleased with this item, and am considering buying one for my son!
The Best Painting Tool Ever!
2007-02-18
I have bought nearly every tool which is supposed to make painting easier and this is the only one that actually does! My son and I just painted a 14 by 14 room in about 2 hours using this. The room has 18 foot ceilings and using the Paint Stick saved a huge amount of time. Using the Paint Stick I was able to climb up a 14 foot ladder and paint a large area without having to climb back down to fill a paint tray or try to balance a roller and tray. There is absolutely no mess, i did not have any problems with drips or leaks like one reviewer complained of. I have used these before and just thrown them away, but today I cleaned it and it really wasn't too bad, about 15 to 20 minutes. This item is worth every cent!!!

I painted a large room in 2 hours with the paintstick instead of the 2 days we planned using an old fashioned roller. No drips, no mess, and the paint went on the wall perfectly smooth. Normally when you pour paint on to a roller tray there's a mess. None of that with the paintstick.
Wish I had this 20 years ago. I've painted so many rooms in the last 3 houses. This would have cut the work by 75%. Cleaning isn't that bad.
The other reviewer who had drips and splatters had to be doing something wrong. And I had no wasted paint. When I was done I followed the instructions to get the paint in the handle and roller mechanism back into the can. Worked perfectly.
I still hate to paint, but this device made the process a whole lot easier.
