Customer Reviews
Using with Samsung A550 LCD+Philips Home Theater System
2008-07-16
I purchased looking at good reviews. I was easily able to program it for my Samsung 52" LCD (A550). The problem is VOLUME Buttons. Even though I keep Volume UP/Down button pressed, the TV respond only one button press and than nothing happens(This is not the case with Samsung supplied remote). Its very annoying to press volume keys multiple times to get to desired level.
It has been end of 3 days since I received this remote, but still NO SUCCESS in searching code for my Philips Home Theater System (Model# HTS3555/37B). I hope I will be able to program that remote too as the original remote is really bad. Thus, when it works its fantastic but sometimes, you struggle with codes like me. I still find the older ALL-In-One Model better than this.
A good deal and it WORKS!

I purchased this unit because the remote for my Sony receiver broke and retailers and people on ebay wanted a fortune for a Sony brand replacement. This remote went on sale so I figured I'd try it and it works fabulously and as a bonus controls most all my other components. The only thing it does not control is my Tivo unit but I figured it would not so this is not a con against it. If you are looking for a cheap and reliable method of controlling all your remote gear then this is it.
works well

Not being too electronically inclined, I usually stumble around with these types of products. But this one is easy to program, especially with the learning capability. Punch a couple of buttons, poof! I especially like the multifunction keys at the bottom that let you program a sequence of steps for one-button operation. Works on all the electronics I have in the house. I'm glad I purchased it.
Almost Perfect

I bought one of these for my home theater and it works so well I bought another one for my casual viewing living room set. There's already plenty of reviews here so there's not much I can add, but I'd just like to say this remote offers just about everything one could wish for in a programmable remote control, and it's super cheap. The only thing I don't like about it is that it only has one pair of buttons for FF/rewind. I've remedied this by using those buttons as true FF/rewind, and I've abused the channel buttons for chapter/track select. It works OK, but I'd prefer to have separate buttons for those functions. Hey maybe next time around Sony will add these buttons and then they could practically put Harmony out of business.
A lot of remote for the price

The inexpensive RM-VL600 is an excellent substitute for up to 8 remotes. Unlike most low-cost universal remotes, which either don't have a learning feature or have such a small amount of memory that you can only teach them a few keys, the RM-VL600 offers ample storage.
The setup procedure is simple and clearly explained step-by-step in the manual. By default, the volume and mute buttons send commands to your TV if a video device is selected and to your amp if an audio device is selected, but you can very easily set it to always use the TV's or the amp's controls if you put all your audio through the TV or the receiver (if you have a home theatre setup).
If you're looking for a capable but inexpensive universal remote, don't look any further. If you need RF capability, consider adding the Next Generation Remote Control Extender which works very well in this remote.
Highly recommended.
Fantastic - Even Works With Apple TV!

Great product at an affordable price. With the 'learning' function, controls all my equipment - TV, receiver (including audio), cable, dvd, cd AND Apple TV! My 3-4 remotes are now just one. The learning function is easy to use and totally works. This is a great product - highly recommended!
Awesome remote

I was expecting to have to teach this remote how to interact with my devices because I didn't see my television brand on the code list (Westinghouse)... but it worked with both the Westinghouse 42" LCD and my Sony amp right out of the box with no configuration at all. Hell yes!
Does everything I need, for cheap!

I bought this remote after my Sony stereo remote died and I broke my Sony DVD player remote. It worked with those two items right out of the box. After entering the appropriate codes, I got it to work with my VCR and TV as well (a Panasonic and a Toshiba). The learning function was very useful, and it wasn't hard to program at all. I spent less than an hour to get it all up and running, including teaching it some of the more obscure functions of my VCR. I liked it so much that I'm buying a second one for my family room TV and VCR.
Excellent product so far

It does the work, nothing less than expected.
Excellent price, quality, usage.
I believe is the only remote in the market
that does learning < $20.
Inexpensive and reliable
