A BARGAIN for $40!
2008-06-24
This thing sounds great! Plenty loud and a big sound for such a small unit. Pretty much "plug and play."
If you already have a XM Radio, you know the benefits. This makes it a lot more portable, so if you need that, this is worth the small investment. I have some similar things, like the SkyFi Boombox by Delphi. This is much better.
If you're a huge audiophile and want massive bass or something, this probably isn't the unit for you. But if you just want portability and something for the office, this can't be beat.
Bought the remote for an additional $8 and it's worth it, by the way.
Southern exposure

Nice style and doesnt take up much space. Great sound. Needs southern exposure for antenea, which is a slight annoyance. Overall, very pleased with product.
I'm a fan

Received an XM Roady for a gift. I like to listen to the sports programming while at work and I have an office with a door, so this seemed to fit the bill. System is as promised and the sound quality is good for a small desktop unit. I'm content with the music soundQ, but since I mostly listen to sport events and talk radio, it isn't a relevant concern.
Great sound from such a small package

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality sound from this unit, which I use with an Express EZ radio. The sound is clear and more than adequate volume-wise for my one-bedroom apartment. The antenna that comes with the unit is a bit smaller than the ones that typically come with XM's home docking units, but putting it on the shelf in my screened-in balcony area provides perfect reception and I can keep the lengthy antenna cable well out of harm's way.
I was particularly surprised to find that the unit works with the remote from my Samsung Nexus 25 that was using before--no need to go hunting for a new XM remote!
I would recommend this unit if you are living in a small place, are a student, or are simply looking for a space-saving idea in your office or study where needing to hear it throughout the house is not a consideration.
Nice product

This is a great little docking/speaker system. I just bought 2, based on the reviews here, and so far, I am not disappointed at all. One I put in my home, on top of a dresser, by a window, facing east, but I directed the antenna towards the south, and I get perfect reception. The other I brought into my office. I am glad it comes with such a long antenna cord becuase I had to get the wire to go under my desk and up the corner of a wall to a window, but that took only about 5 minutes, and I was able to hide the wire nicely. Reception is great on this as well. I would have given this product the full 5 stars, except for the fact that the volume knob is not really to my liking. But the volume itself is great.
Best Docking Port in the Galaxy
2008-07-25
I have purchased two Altec Lansing XM3120 Docking/Speaker Systems for Audiovox Express, one for me and one for my girlfriend, because the sound quality is amazing. The ported speaker system delivers full sound across the audio spectrum, it is incredibly easy to install and use, and it fits anywhere in the room - in the corner out of the way, or front-and-center as a major component of your audio-visual environment. Finally, the price cannot be beat. In other words, this is a perfect example of an amazing value. Satellite Radio is amazing in the first place, and making it truly portable is very cool.
Works better than advertised

Even though the description did not expressly indicate that it can accomodate the XpressEZ Model, I took a chance. Voila! It fits and functions just fine. The tone quality is ok and the volume output is far greater than its size would lead you to expect.Audiovox Car XMCK5 XpressEZ Satellite Radio Receiver w/ SureConnect
Just what I needed!
2008-07-14
This is an excellent little system and fits my needs to a T! It is attractive, easy to set up, and the cords have extra length so the location of the speaker system is not limited to the location of my window and outlet. The sound is of very good quality and ideally suited to my office space. I'm sure my neighbors appreciate this system's lack of booming bass and extreme volume. If you want your XM really loud, I recommend the boombox or connecting a home docking station to a good home stereo. And I finally have a use for the remote control that came with my Audiovox Express receiver. All in all, a terrific value!
Unbelieveable Sound and volume

This is an item I only bought because it was Altec Lansing. Had Lansing speakers in college and used them well into my marriage with my first two kids. This cranks up to 30 on the dial and can be heard thoughout my town house. Bought three others as gifts as they are only $40 a piece.
Be Very Very Quiet, I'm listening to the Radio...

After reading all of the reviews on this (and disregarding those who said it was too quiet) I thought I would take a chance and buy it. It is really a nice looking unit, but it is SO light and feels cheap. Turned up full blast you can barely hear it from the next room. I wish I would have went for the bigger "boom box" style. So, if you want a docking station for your XM reciever for a small room, this would be a good buy, but if you need "punch" to deliver volume for noisy areas I would certainly go for a more powerful unit.
