Editorial Review
Hot Wheels introduces its latest innovation in radio control. Featuring a "biomechanical" design, the N.S.E.C.T. robot scurries with amazing speed and then transforms from "bio-bug" to "bio-missle" blaster in seconds! Two shooting modes allow the N.S.E.C.T. single or rapid fire, up to an alarming distance of 25 feet. It also has working claws for capturing things, and laser-like eyes that change color when it's in attack or explore mode.
The N.S.E.C.T. Robot requires one 7.2V battery and charger, plus one 9V battery for the transmitter, all included. 49 MHz. Measures 15" long.

This bug rocks
2007-05-07
This N.S.E.C.T bug rocks. I bought it for my 3 year old's birthday when his real present was delayed and would not arrive in time. I didn't realize how big this thing was ... it's huge, which makes it impressive to watch run around...it appears to be built very well considering the price I paid. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I did open it early to charge the battery before my son's birthday as previous reviewers recommended. When it gets stuck on some things, he starts jumping like a maniac...very cool/fun. My kids love to have me control it and chase them around...they run, scream, laugh and hide ... can't ask for more.
Fun for a very little while.

This was the only thing my 6 year old wanted for his birthday/Christmas. He asked for gift cards from all of his friends so he could save enough to buy it. He absolutely loved it when it first came but a week later couldn't care less. It is VERY noisy and it is hard to find items for it to pick up. It is a cool toy but not worth the money.
Great Idea ,Terrible Unfuctional Toy

The toy we received was defected. It was terrible because that was my son's most desirable toy for christmas and now he has to wait 6 weeks for a replacement.
N.S.E.C.T. for the win!

Three words best describe this toy, "Fun for All". I woke up to this RC toy on Christmas day very surprised, because well I'm 19! My mother had been surfing amazon for something fun for me, and read a previous review about a father who had bought it for his son, and had ended up keeping it for himself! Quite frankly it's been that fun! For an RC "creature" it has many features, you don't often see that operate at a decent speed and also don't break after 45+ hours of use as this one is capable of. The best feature in my opinion is the dart cannon as it would be for most, its a six shooter, which revolves to shoot all 6 darts. The darts them selves are like the Nerf darts except even though it appears that there traveling fast they don't harm you at all! I shot my self in the face with one of the darts and it felt like a breeze blew by my face. But they do shoot with strong enough force for the suction cups on the front of them to stick to clean flat surfaces! Over all its a fun device that has managed to help me fulfill my evil deeds of scaring my friends pets!!! don't worry PETA I haven't hurt any of them yet!
Great gift idea!

This toy is very realistic in movement and alot of fun for all ages to try and master. The suction cup sponge darts, when inserted properly, really do shoot far! It's a tough toy around small pets but a bit spendy to be using around a large dog.
BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a fun toy. I bought it for my 6 year old. It does quite a few things and keeps him entertained. The downfall is the battery pack doesn't last that long otherwise it's worth buying.
Broken out of the box
2007-12-26
Even though other reviews indicated problems out of the box, my grandson was hooked and thought he had to have it. We chanced it, and sure enough, our bug was one of the broken-out-of-the-box ones too. It is also as noisy as a tank! Surely something I would be telling him to turn off shortly after he has turned it on. Good idea, just does not perform well.
dont give it as a gift, only purchase if you an adult wanting it

what turd, i was wondering why people on ebay sell these things for 32 bucks shipped. mine is defective, first the controls wouldnt work, then after i pushed on the controls harder it started to work slowly. when you first turn it on the gun comes out of hiding, but if you move it forward or reverse then try to take the gun out, it wont come out and doesnt even try. now i gotta sell this POS on ebay as a parts nsect. if not i might take it apart and try to install hobby grade stuff, or at least somehow quite the thing down somehow. it sounds like they put the motors in echo chambers so its as loud as possible.
im 27, what on earth happened to the 9.6v days when they came out with the bandit, and the turbo hopper, now those were quality products, i remember launching my bandit off of a 6ft skateboard ramp that ended almost vertical. the springs popped out, but i just popped them in and kept going.
Worked great with one modification

I love the insect action of this toy. As noted, the missile firing is problematic. It's hard to determine the specific problem from some of the reviews. My issue turned out to be that the insect wings were too heavy and preventing the cannon from fully rising. A quick fix was to unscrew the head plate (three screws), remove the wings (held by two plastic brackets using two screws each), and then reattach the head plate. I wasn't too keen on the wings to begin with, and I like the appearance with the cannon visible at all times. A very fun toy!
One happy boy

My four old son saw a commercial on tv for this toyTyco R/C N.S.E.C.T. Robotic Attack Creature - 49MHZ - Blue. He really wanted it. I found in on Amazon for the best price. I was rather shocked when we received it. I was expecting a small remote control bug, what I got was huge. It is well over a foot long and almost as wide. Imagine my sons surprise when he received it for Easter. He had to show everyone, even strangers. He has learned eye/hand coordination and has loved playing with it. Best money I ever spent to see his eyes light up. I have promised him the other n.s.e.c.t. toys as soon as they become available.
