Average DVD 2007-01-12
Extremely easy to set-up. Very easy to use. However, did not see any "up-graded" difference in video. Typical DVD's still look typical. Even worse, my home digital dvd movies look poor on the big screen. The sound is fine and loud. The Dolby is great. I got a great price but I think when Blue Ray or HD dvd players get to $150 I'll buy one. I just hope that they will truly be able to upgrade a standard dvd to hd quality.

Works just fine for me.... 2007-01-11
I'm using it in my bedroom with a new Samsung 4095 TV and it's fine for my purposes. Much better sound than the TV speakers, all-in-one unit doesn't take up much room and everything looks good. Easy hook-up, plenty of wire provided for my medium sized bedroom. I did have to buy a HDMI cable to run it to my TV. Having a home theater in my bedroom is *really* nice!

Small Room Surround 2007-01-10
This Sony 5.1 DX375 was bought for a gift for my dad. The spec's looked alright to handle a miminum amount of external devices such as a dvd and his DirectTV receiver. Even though the systems box arrived in terrible shape, the unit was not damaged since Sony did a good job in box design and packaging. The unit was really stright forward with the connections since all speakers used color coded & labeled speaker wires (which were included). Right off the bat I was disappointed there were no additional cables, such as component or composite cables packaged with the system. A trip to the local electronics store was required before DTV, or the DVD could be tested. Once the store bought cables were connected the receiver did alright on self setting the audio levels to each speaker which took several minutes. Once the system was calibrated and a dvd movie was played the true colors came out... unfortionally, this unit was rather disappointing. The quality of the audio was disappointing to say the least, since the speakers are small & encased in a small "box" (with no porting, etc.) they just dont have a good sound (they sound tinnie and flat). Even worse, the receiver just doesnt have enought audio output (power in watts). At FULL volume, the audio level was about where most listeners would want the sound for a normal acostical room.... if you wanted some "extra punch" (volume) out of the system, (for someone hard of hearing, etc.) forget it. This unit just doenst have sufficent audio output. I would not recommend this unit unless you needed something for a small apartment.

Very Good - for the price 2006-12-21
A home theater system, with a 5 DVD changer, equipped with an HDMI interface, at this price is a bargain. I bought this player a month ago and am quite satisfied with it. The speakers are sleek, the wires are long and quite enough for a large apartment and the sound quality is excellent. The best part is that the sound is crisp enough to be clear and audible even when the volume is turned down. The only reason I've given 4 stars instead of 5 is 'cause setting this up takes quite some effort and the surround speakers refuse to play when I play dvd movies! There's a TV and a VCR(!!??) input just in case you wanna output your TV audio to a 5.1 channel speaker system. All in all, a great system for a decent price!

No digital imputs! 2006-12-14
I should have read the specs more carefully, but one would think that a home theater system that advertises itself as a 5.1 channel home theater system would have digital imputs that would enable you to actually here 5.1 sound! Yes, you can hear dvds in digital sound, but you can't imput anything into this receiver with anything other that rca imputs. So if you want to watch tv in digital sound, or xbox 360, or anything else, look elsewhere. Otherwise, this actually is a very nice sounding unit for its price and size.

Sony Home Theater in a Box 2007-03-10
We love it. Great product at a great price.

Looks Great, Sounds Great 2007-02-27
I have this system connected into an Olevia 332H HDTV via an S-Vid Cable. The sound is simply amazing! The DVD playback is great as well.

The radio signal is weak, but I tend to listen to internet radio anyways. The system also lacks audio inputs. I had to use RCA-Audio Splitters to allow me to connect everything together.

It would be nice if the system had digital inputs so allow for 5.1 audio with other things other then just the DVD player.

Overall, for the price, you get a great sounding system with great DVD playback. You lose out on some of the features needed in todays standard system, but you can't beat the price.

Great system for the money 2007-02-23
Well I would like to say for the money this is a pretty good system. I read a few comments on this item. I would like to add I can hear the TV thru my system. you must add audio/visual cable (yellow/red) from TV to tv/VHR hook up on the rear of DVD system. True you will not have digital sound that's why I did not give this system a five. NO optical in or out!!! . But sound wise great to me. works just find with my Sony 60"" HD TV. And the upconversion does work you must use a HDMI cable!! So all in all pretty good system just wish it had a optical out hook up...

Good Buy Less some features 2007-01-18
This is a great system. But you wont have surround sound for TV. Still the effect is decent. The system has little dated looks, the DVD player is bulky and slow.
But for the money, I think the system is good. DVD sound is AWESOME. setup is very simple.

Great Purchase 2007-01-12
Happy with overall system. My only complaint is that the loading time for each disc takes awhile (30+ seconds) and there doesn't seem to be a way to manually control the subwoofer level (though it is powerful). I am in a condominium where sometimes I'm afraid to raise the level too high in fear of disturbing the neighbors. Get ready for a powerful, clear stereo sound. I have my television and XM radio attached to the system as well and can easily switch between devices on the universal remote control. For a basic system, easy installation, and reasonable price, I recommend this Home Theater System.
