This is a great little Boom Box, Great idea..you can use the reciever in the box or take it out and use it in the car, boat, or anywhere. Plug it in, tune your fm car stereo to the correct freq and it works. Sirius radio is great, the sound and quality are great, Sirius has the best programming by far, almost all Major sports, Nascar, Howard Stern, tons of music stations , news, family programming, old radio shows.. Great product. Highly reccomend
I like this little boomcube

This is a nice cute little block of a boombox. I use it in my room and when washing my car out in the garage area. It's sturdier than it looks and gives out a decent volume level for its size. This boombox should go for about $50, anything more is just too much.
Also, its great for close quarters but drowns out in open area around large crowd conversations. But dont be too down on it.... its a small box and its only obvious the bigger the louder. I like it a lot for what i use it for.
Ps..... it does add to the wear and tear of the starmate if you plug and play a lot from car to this.
Plus: you can plug in your ipod to the boombox, which was a great added feature. So not only do you get your sirius, but why pay more for an extra boombox for your ipod too? You get an ALL in ONE here.
Chunky and boomy.

This thing is bulky and heavy, especially with the 8 D batteries in it. Everyone has had a good laugh at the way it looks. Very 20 years ago.
After experiencing the fussiness of the Starmate's car mount, I am very glad that this boombox has a unified connector for power, audio, and antenna. It's easy to slip the radio in and out of the boombox without fumbling with individual wires.
As someone else reported, the Starmate's FM transmitter may as well not exist while it is plugged into the boombox, so manually shutting off the transmitter via the radio's menu would presumably prolong battery life. It appears that this box will eat up batteries pretty quickly.
In my opinion, this box's biggest deficiency is the lack of bass and treble controls because as is, it has too much bass. This affects the intelligibility of voices at times, and music can get overbearing. But I find that I am beginning to enjoy the box's sound at lower volume levels, and I use the boombox mostly in the bedroom now for going-to-sleep and waking-up music. For normal listening, I plug the Starmate into the home docking station and listen to it through my main stereo system.
Great portability

I have been using the Starmate unit without the boombox for about 6 months and just bought the boombox today. Normally I have the Starmate tuner in the bedroom and get a clear signal all over my apartment to the other fm radios to listen to sirius. Somehow the boombox diminishes the ability of the starmate unit to transmit the signal over fm. I tried adjusting the antenna (and removing it from the boombox), but it doesnt help. If you want to take your sirius anywhere with you, the boombox is great. Also, for listening to sirius on one radio at a time, it's great. But just an FYI...the distance you can get the sirius signal over fm when you hook up the radio to the boombox is less than when the radio stands by itself. I suspect this might be the case with all the boomboxes but I didnt know.
The boombox sounds pretty good, wish it had treble/bass controls, but still good.

This actually sounds better than I thought it would. I usually keep the volume at a level that makes comunication in the same room under shouting level.
I like that the radio shuts off when you shut the boombox off.
Reception depends on location. upstairs is great. Basement is spotty, but surprising that it even comes in down there.
I can even plug my mp3 player into this and it sounds better than the portable mp3 speakers I bought. Very nice feature.
Overall I'm very happy with this boombox.
Sirius Boombox great for outdoor use

Great sound and portability. May need to move around satellite for optimal reception.
Not a bad unit but lacking features...

Unfortunately there is no way to customize the EQ on this unit that I see (no treble/bass) and there is no place to store the AC adapter on the unit so if you take it to somewhere that will have outlet power you will need to bring the ac adapter seperately... a minor inconvenience. Otherwise the unit is pretty nice. I haven't used it on battery power yet so I am not sure how long it will last.
Great Option for Starmate Home Listening

I purchased this unit for my wife's birthday, she had asked for the home kit for her starmate but I ended up spending the few extra dollars and getting the boomcube and I am glad I did. The unit is built well and has very good sound for such a small, portable unit. There are the same issues with this as any home satellite unit, you need to be able to place the antenna somewhere that is can get a good signal and I have found the antenna on this unit to be quite good, most times we get reception in our house without having to unhook the antenna from the unit, but when we are getting interference it is nice to have the 25 foot cord to place the antenna in a window or such. If you are interested in a home unit for Sirius I would highly recommend this unit.
