Ok sound, really terrible interface on a DEH-8600MP

Is it just my head unit guys? Everyone complains its slow and hard to search, but mine goes beyond that usefulness to fall in to worthless category.
I've tried both the IB100 and now the IB100ii, both appear to work identical with my head unit. By default, I only see a 'external' source, and the display is way over on the right edge of the screen, only showing 8 characters. On top of that, the characters are: IPOD0001 where the 0001 seems to be counting seconds.
I can go in to the function menu and switch between that ipodxxxx, song, artist, cd, but they all only show 8 characters and doesn't scroll.
if ipodxxxx is displayed and I press the multi-control right, it just restarts the currently playing song. Up and down switch between playlists, but I can't see which song is playing.
If I want to pause a song, I have to press in on the multi-control, go to function, then select function one and press the multi-control and then it pauses it. REAAALLLY useful pioneer!
I think they should have left out support for old head-units on this thing. It's better going and getting an AUX in pbus adapter with a Stereo to RCA cable.
Oh and I have the 30gb iPod video and can not get the navigation trick to work for the life of me.
So is it just me with the display way over on the right and only showing 8 characters?
Great product.

Synced up to my Pioneer CD player flawlessly very compact easy to stow away. Allowed for scrolling through the playlists of the iPod on the cd player.
Excellent product

If you're tired of re-burning CD's with MP3's everytime you get some new ones, this is the answer. I've got the Pioneer DEH-P77MP which is ipod compatible. After soldering a few wires and running the ipod cable to the glovebox, I have my mp3's from my 8gb nano being channelled through to my headunit. The quality is excellent as the ipod cable is the proper audio phono type, NOT mini jack. Another benefit is that if you have mixtapes or other mixed albums, itunes plays them gapless. Well recommended and I have fitted one for my fiancee as well.
Seamless Integration

I bought this despite some of the reviews about slowness using the menu. I have not seen that at all. It took about 10 minutes to install and it works great. I installed it in a 2006 WRX with a Pioneer head unit. My Apple 8gig touch plugs right in with no issues and charges the whole time, even if the car is off. The menu on my head unit is slick, it shows the a picture of the iPod and the menu is quick and easy to use. My head unit is a Pioneer 6800MP. I recommend this for anyone using an iPod in their car, it was so easy to install and it sounds awesome.
Pioneer CD-IB100ii iPodĀ® Interface Adapter Control your iPod with your Pioneer stereo
Works good, but not 100%

This works pretty good, but there are a few things that i would have liked to change. You cannot control your music from your ipod. Really clear audio, just the control stinks.
Superb and Subtle...

I purchased the CD-IB100II iPod Adapter for a great price and installed it in my car in less than an hour including time to put connectors on the power leads, and fish all the wires inside my dash to conceal the control box and fittings. My Premier DEH-980BT provides full support for iPod displays, option settings and controls through the main display and knob, that acts in every way just like the actual iPod control wheel.
The sound is clean - trust me - once you have direct-wired your iPod to your car stereo and do not use an FM Modulator or wired FM connection, you will never go back to a compromise solution like that. This is the ultimate solution to using an iPod, hiding the iPod, and getting the benefit of all the displayed data right on your stereo.
This unit also has an additional IP Bus connection so you can "daisy chain" another device, such as a Sirius or XM radio interface. With one of those added to my head unit, I have a huge number of music sources at my finger-tips in a single DIN-1 head unit. It's so understated that it will not attract much attention. That's a good thing if you live in a "bad neighborhood". It's a good thing if you like your car uncluttered.
For the price, this is one of the best upgrades I have ever made to a car!
Pausing isn't a problem (with the Pioneer DEH-P980BT head unit) - just choose a different source or answer the phone and the unit automatically pauses the iPod - no need to go drilling into the menu to find the pause feature! Also I have not noticed any delay retrieving songs. It's just as fast as the iPod.
The unit charges while plugged in, uses car power to run, and shuts off automatically when you shut off the car.
Awesome product

This product was very easy to install. I really like the fact that I can see the Artist,Albumn & Song Title on my head unit instead of always looking down to see them on my i-pod (which can be hazardous), plus the fact it also charges my i-pod.
Simple but works

I have an Pioneer AVIC-D1 Navigation System, and this adapter works with it but it's functions are very simple. Like it won't show the complete name of the song, and to find something you can only go up or down. But I don't mind, I use my playlists on my ipod
Disappointed

Overall, this unit is pretty nice. It is kinda a pain to run all of the wires, but it makes the music sound so much better than those iTrips do. I have a 96 accord coupe with a pioneer dph 7700 deck, and it installed exactly the way they advertised it. I ran the wires down through the center of the dash, under the cup holders, and sat the unit inside my center console (after notching a piece of plastic with my dremel tool to run the wires in). Then I ran the iPod wire back the way the other wires came from up into my glove box. That way, since you don't use the iPod to control the music ( though I wish you could), its out of the way and no wires are exposed when not in use. Overall, nice product. I just wish it wasn't necessary in the first place. Most other companies have a jack on the front of the deck to plug an iPod in directly. Like I said, I just wish you could use the ipod to scroll through music since the deck can have a lag when scrolling fast.
