My XM...on the go!

I'd been wanting to expand the coverage of my SkyFi2 for some time now... and with the INCREDIBLE price of $24 for the Delphi Boom Box, I couldn't hold out any longer. And once out of the box, I can't stop playing my XM radio. By the pool... to the beach... or just in my living room... my XM now goes where I go. And is no longer chained to my car.
The Boombox is stylish in design, doesn't have the greatest of power but is more than adequate for my needs, and is light and extremely portable (obviously). And swapping out the SkyFi2 unit is simple and effortless.
My only complaint is how the antenna cable is handled. I only have to unravel it when using it at home (since my living room doesn't get as strong a signal), but having to remove the battery cover, which is almost the entire bottom of the unit, and then manually unravel the cord from around the two pegs is VERY tedious, and quite archaic. Retractable self-winding cords have been around in our products for DECADES! So how is it neglected here?? Not only would it save space in the unit, 99.9% of the owners of this Boombox would love it 10 times more if they had included such a feature. As it is, I find myself with 20 feet of cord, lying in a pile because I'm tired of winding and then unwinding it over and over again as I take it from home to any other mobile use. Very annoying.
Overall, though... for all that it does, and at THAT price, I can not complain much. It does exactly what is expected of it... allows me to take my XM wherever I go, and make the most out of my monthly payment. Awesome. :D
Great Boombox for the price!

As other reviewers have said, this is not a $300 BOSE radio system. It's a $25 Delphi boombox. The sound is very good for the price of the radio. It gets pretty loud and is great for indoor listening. Easily fills my bedroom with the sounds of XM. It looks great and can fit in anywhere in the home.
Overall, this is a great radio! I would recommend it to anyone who loves XM and wants good sound for a great price!!

Fantastic Boombox! 2008-04-05
This boombox is the perfect addition to my SkyFi2.It has great bass and the volume is loud.My friend said that it reminds her of a bowtie.The best part is I can put the boombox anywhere in my house without putting the antennia in a window.

I just purchased this item last week and received it yesterday. First of all, I would like to say that today I found the price had been reduced substantially. I called Amazon and they were very kind to refund my purchase to the new discounted price, thank you Amazon. Now, on to the product review: The current discounted price of this item is a fantastic deal! You really can't go wrong with this item! This boombox offers home portability for your XM radio. I have a SkyFi unit and it was very easy to set up. I have not had the time to use it with batteries since I just received it and have it hooked to the wall. The unit comes with everything you need to start listening, including the antena. The sound of the unit is decent for indoor use. One can adjust the level of bass and treble to maximize one's desired sound output. I find setting the volume at max does not distort the sound, I am not an audiophile by any means, but I will say that I am pleased with the quality of the sound. The unit is 19" wide and about 7" tall. It has a built in handle for facilitating carrying. The antena can be placed right on the unit on the back and the long antena chord can easily be stored inside the battery compartment. If you are looking for a portable solution to your SkyFi, SkyFi2 or Roady XT XM radios this is a fantastic deal right now, for the price being offered at Amazon beats all the other merchants out of the water.

LEMON ALERT

The first of these boomboxes I received was a lemon right out of the box. XM Radio was sending the signal but the boombox showed no signal. I should be able to get at least channel one but the antenna couldn't even pick that up. No signal strength was recorded and the box was a flat-out dud. However, Amazon is sending a replacement right away. Just be warned that you need to check this box out right away.
Great Product 2007-10-11
I have had this radio about two months and I am very pleased with it. I live in a single story home and I am able to receive the satellite signal using my RoadyXT without being close to a window. I do have to point the antenna south. The only reason I did not give it five stars is due to the sound quality. It is good but not great. I highly recommend this product.
