Electronic Drumsticks

Graet price, shipping a few days longer than I thought. Product hooks up to many other electronics you can use it with. My grandson seems to love it,

MiJam Drumsticks

I purchased this for my daughter age 13 for Christmas. She opened them and not one of my 5 kids or their friends have touched them again!
They do not work unless you hit them on something and then you think you are going to break them! Go buy a drum set, it would be more fun!!!
must be plugged into speakers or headphones

We almost sent these back - thinking they did not work - but then discovered that they must be plugged into some sort of speaker or headphone to be heard (duh!) - but I wonder how many other people have made the same mistake.
Disappointed

My 13 year old daughter asked for these for Christmas. She was so excited to see that she had received them. We put the batteries in and tried them right away. They do not work! We both tried them with no success. Out of about 20 wrist movements, we heard the drum sound maybe 5 times! We worked with it for about 30 minutes and then gave up. The product is terrible. We returened it to the store the next day. What a huge disappointment! Don't waste your money!

It's all in the wrists!!!
2007-06-28
Just bought these for my 4 year-old son at the Discovery Channel Store yesterday. We both had a hard time getting them to work in the store until the salesperson came over and told us you have to put all the movement in through your wrists. Guess what... it worked. Don't know why exactly, but if you try to air drum moving at the elbow or shoulder it won't activate the sticks. Once you get a hang of just using your wrists, it works great and is really a cool gadget.
We hooked it up to the iLit portable speakers we bought...really cool (the speakers change color with each new sound). Or you can just plug earphones or an ipod in, too.
I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars because the wires are a little short and do get in the way a little if you're plugging into speakers. But, you get used to it. If your plugging into an ipod, then no problem as you can clip it to yourself.
So for all of you who couldn't get them to work and gave them a bad review, it was user error, not the drumsticks! If a 4 year-old can use them, anyone can!!!
We got the guitar too...cool, as well.
Pretty Cool Drumming Toy!
2007-03-20
For an avid music fan, this is a real cool toy to play along with your favorite tunes. I am a big audiophile, but I couldn't complain too much about the sound quality of the drum sounds. They sound pretty good considering there really isn't much competition in the market for electronic drumsticks. If i had my way I would design a pair of sticks that simulated a real "hi-hat" sound instead of a ride cymbal sound, and I would also make the hi-hat sound the default sound on the right drumstick and make the ride cymbal and bass drum the two buttons on the right stick.
I would also like to be able to do a snare drumroll with both sticks, but currently due to the design, you can only make a snare sound with the left stick. I would probably add another button onto the right stick to be able to hit both sticks with the same snare sound. What would also be real nice is for the sticks to adjust volume based on how hard you hit the sticks. A lot of keyboards nowadays have that ability and it can really make a difference with drums, especially when doing a crescendo in a song or when drums are played quietly.
It takes some getting used to, but i feel like i'm a pro at drumming along with these sticks. I recommend this to anyone who listens to music while tapping on anything they can find. It is good for practicing rhythm as well and really can add a lot to your songs if you choose to record your work!
didn't work when arrived

I bought this as a gift for my nephew. Unfortunately it didn't work when it arrived, but fortunately my sister in law was able to take it to a local discovery store and exchange it for one that worked fine.
Awful Product, and Terrible Customer Service to Boot
2007-01-27
I bought these for my 13-year old niece, who loves percussion, and was so excited to get them for Christmas. They looked like a great buy.
Well, the disappointment was palpable two hours later. We got them hooked up, installed appropriate batteries etc., and the light was on, but we could not get any sound from the drumsticks at all. Which was a bummer, but OK, if we could simply either (1) get help or (2) easily replace them.
Nope. The "instructions" were a tiny folded sheet of paper, there is absolutely no troubleshooting, no help, no nothing. I went through everything that came with them but could find anything to help us on next steps or returns, etc. I finally retrieved the original plastic packaging and found a URL in tiny letters for the company. But when I went there, the site again offered no help, tips, or troubleshooting (just a PDF of the really awful original instructions).
There is video on the website showing someone playing the drumsticks but this was no help to us in trying to troubleshoot (except to mildly disappoint my niece when she realized that you have to drum "in the air" to get the best results -- which we did try, with no luck or sound, again).
I next e-mailed the company and got no response. I e-mailed them again and -- seven days later -- the e-mail (in badly worded English) simply asked me if we had tried "plugging in the head phones." Seriously.
Anyway, do NOT waste your money. A terrible product, no support, and no recourse if it doesn't work as it should.
