Very useful product

Product is easy to use. Performance is quite satisfactory. Quality is good.
I wish it came with rechargeable battery. and charging plug.
Evnthough they dont recomend for use in car, I use it without problem but use it for just listening. Do not try to navigate files while driving.
Terrible mechanics and switches

I have used this player for a year. I love its ability to adjust tempo, the player has great playing options.
What I hate is:
1) the player's LCD collects pocket lint making it impossible to read.
2) the player's primary selection switch is a toggle switch that has become difficult to actuate; the electrical switches have become defective.
3) the LCD's window is glass. While the player was in my key pocket the window became fractured. I have no recollection of any trauma to my key pocket. I had glass shards in my pocket.
Junk

No manual or info included. Hard to use controls. Cannot make it work as claimed.
I do not recommend this product
2008-03-10
I bought this as a gift. It comes with no directions and it is hard to even see the display items on the product. The battery that it came with became corroded after just 2 weeks of use and not misuse. When I replaced the battery, it still does not work. I am very disappointed at the 2 week life of this product and I do not recommend anyone try it. I would return it, but I do not think that's an option with this product.
Bogus Rebate!!!! BUYER BEWARE-UNDERHANDED COMPANY THAT CHEATS THEIR CUSTOMERS!
2007-11-12
I purchased many items with rebates last Christmas. Digging through my records it looks as though this is the only one that didn't come. I bought it and mailed the items out correctly, and on time.
Today reading the small print and wondering why I didn't get my money, I discovered it says you have to wait 10 weeks to get your rebate, but if you don't receive it, you must contact them no later then 120 days after the promotion ends. So you have to wait 70 days, then somehow remember that you were not sent the rebate, but before 120 days is up, you have to remind them that you still want it. Otherwise you forfeit your rebate. What a scam this is. Shame on you Machspeed Technologies. All for a stupid $10 rebate. Very underhanded company.
Now to just post this review for every item they sell.

item was damaged

I received this item in a very timely manner, although when I opened it up the face part where the songs would display has been damaged. looks like it might have been heat damage of some sort, the display will not work.
Best deal around
2007-07-19
For the price, you can't beat this deal. It does everything. I know one feedback says that when you turn it off, it doesn't start at the same place you turned it off, but you could select the "mode" to "random", where it won't start at the same place, but it'll jump randomly for the next songs, that way you wouldn't listen to the same songs in the same order again (a way to get around a small inconvenience). Also select the "jazz" mode - it gives you the best sound quality.
DON'T BOTHER

Cheap MP3 player, have had trouble with it on several occasion and currently it is not working again. When it does work, the music quality is good that's why it gets 2 stars but I would suggest saving yourself the hassles and look elsewhere.
Decent enough player, but could be better.

I've been using it for about 2 months now and it's working pretty good for me. I use this more than I use my Toshiba F40 believe it or not.
The good:
1. Easy to get music on it - No proprietary software to load, no proprietary format to "convert" in and out of. You just copy over your MP3's & go.
2. Data storage - You can carry just one device now & not have to lug around a USB key & MP3 player separate.
3. USB plug right on device - You just plug the thing in and don't need any cables or other garbage.
4. Normal battery - You don't have to worry about charging a battery, it's 1 AAA battery. When it's dead you can just dump it and put in a new one.
5. Small size
The bad
1. No power-off memory - When you turn it off, it doesn't remember where you were in a song/podcast. If you're 1/2 way through a 2 hour podcast and have to turn it off, you have to "fast" forward back to where you left off. This is a big issue for podcast listeners
2. Fast forward - Because of the above you end up fast forwarding a lot, and fast forward on this is really "slow" forward. Also, the control is tiny and hard to use. It needs a knob on the end of the dial ro something. If it can't remember where you left off, it should at least make it easy to get back to it, but it doesn't.
3. Long boot time - Turning on the device the "welcome" screen is up for about 20-30 seconds, this should be INSTANT on.
4. Battery Life - 1 AAA battery is only good for 3 hours. It's good that you can change it because it dies so fast.
Overall I'm happy with it, but think a few small tweaks are needed to make it great.
