Customer Reviews
Terrible Quality & Customer Support
2008-11-03
I mainly use my headphones when working out & on the plane/train/bus. The sound is great and they do a good job of blocking sound, but they have terrible quality. I bought these headphones a year ago and they broke a 2 months later. The jack got separated from the wiring to the headphones. I then contacted customer service and it took numerous e-mails and about two months to get a replacement pair. The replacement pair lasted 5/6 months and then the jack got separated again. This also happened to my roommate's pair of Bass Freqs.
Great earbuds, but broke wayyy too soon

I have to say that I loved these ear buds. They produced great bass as advertised and were really cute to sport with my iPod everyday on the DC metro. HOWEVER, I cannot in good faith give them a great review as they broke within 3-4 months of my purchase! I was just like you, reading these reviews on Amazon about them and disregarding the bad reviews where users had their fray, short out, etc. because surely that wouldn't happen to me.
Well, it did. Yesterday the left bud began shorting out like crazy on my way home. At first I thought it was just a temporary glitch that would fix itself somehow...you know, the jack was plugged in funny or something like that. Nope, they were just broken. I managed to get them in a position in my back pocket where they would only short in and out with the rhythm of my walking, but obviously that's unacceptable and very irritating.
I also got my first ear infection since I was a toddler using these, but I don't blame this brand specifically for that.
Now I'm tasked with the job of starting all over again and trying to find suitable earbuds for my commute as well as for pleasure-listening at home. Bass is so important to me, and I'm not a basshead...I just prefer to feel my music. I can't bear to buy another pair of these right now after they JUST BROKE for NO REASON, so if anyone has some suggestions for full-bodied, bass-rich yet clear earbuds...make a comment and let me know. I'm looking into the Sony MDR-EX90LPs from the CNET "Best under $100" review.
Deliver what they promise

I have never tried any of the high-end earbuds, but the V-Moda "Bass Freq modaphones" pleases my fairly demanding ears. Especially at this price point. These deliver great bass response without drowning out the rest of the mix. Never have I felt like I needed to turn the bass down a notch or two. Like I said, at this price point I can't imagine any better performing ear buds.
Cheap !

These broke as I was taking them out of the package. Sent them straight back. Amazon, as always, great about it so no problem there - just a crappy product.
Good enough upgrade from the stock earphones

When I first receive this earphone, I was very excited that I opened it at once but it's a little bit difficult to remove the wires from the cavity of the plastic it came from, so be careful removing it from the package.
I plugged this into my iPod and was very disappointed that the bass was overpowering the midrange and sounded very stiff. I decided to do some burn-in to the earphones by letting my iPod run continuously on max volume for about two hours. After the burn-in, the bass sounds smoother and soft that I appreciate the bass on my music now. I can hear the midrange better and the vocals sound clearer and crisp.
The earphone is very comfortable but the wires feels flimsy so extra care is recommended. I almost forget to state that this thing manage to block outside noise very well so don't cross a street wearing this.
I've waited about a month before giving a review on this V-MODA Bass Freq to really see the pros and cons better, and from my experience this is a very good replacement for your stock earphones. Sure, it will not replace your Shure e4c but for the price, you can't beat it.
Awesome!

I was looking to replace the earbuds that came with my iPod. Although I think the ones that come with the iPod are pretty good, I wanted to upgrade the sound quality. I read good things about these and I liked the tangerine color as well. They are well made and do a good job blocking outside noise for such little ear buds. The sound quality is really nice, but not as much bass as I thought I would get. I'm glad I got them.
Great for the price

I think these are great for the price. The bass is really nice, but the mids and highs are also clear. They don't sound muddy as I heard some say. I am very happy with them.
not so good

Bought these for my boyfriend for XMAs- also bought the VIBES by V Moda and we liked them much better. I returned this one.
