poor build quality

These headphones had amazing sound and fit so comfortably. The reason I gave them one star is that they broke after about only 2 months of daily use. The build quality on them was horrible.
I love these!

The V-Moda Bass Freq Earbuds are fantastic! I use them with my iTouch, while working in my shop, or on my tractor. I can hear only crystal clear music, and nothing else! The price was unbeatable.

If you want deep, smooth, and powerful bass in an earphone, look no further.
They don't call these earphones "Bass Freqs" for nothing. Before deciding to purchase these earphones, I've been using the Bose QC2's for casual listening, but was in need of something more compact to go with my iPod Shuffle. After searching Amazon and reading reviews like you probably are right now, I came upon these set of earphones. What made me interested in these earphones was the exceptional bass they offered. After purchasing them for under $40, I tested them out with my mp3 player.
I'll be honest, the earphones took me a bit to get used to, because there really was an incredible amount of bass. Since I was used to listening to perfect mids/highs and mild bass coming out of the Bose QC2's, I wasn't ready for all the bass these tiny things packed. However, after getting used to the sound, I noticed that all sorts of songs shined with their bass frequencies, and suddenly everything sounded different.
This is where you want to consider what you listen to more. Songs that bring more of the mids/highs out like classical or symphony types, or songs that you like to hear a more bass emphasized tune, like some rock and rap. Either way, take the name literally, these headphones really pump out the bass. In some songs it will almost sound like there is a subwoofer in the room with you, which was what drew me to these headphones.
Another plus of these headphones is that they block out a ton of outside noise when seated in your ear correctly. My roommates literally yell at me to get my attention, and soon give up and throw something at me.
There are two negatives that I have seen so far: The cables are extremely thin, so try not to yank them around or get them caught in something, as they would probably rip. But they do fine for casual listening and working out.
The other thing is that you need to seat them in your ear correctly. When people say the bass from these earphones make the music sound muddied, it could also be a result of having it in your ear incorrectly. You need to try different angles and seating so that you find the "sweet spot" in your ear where the mids and highs come out, instead of just hearing the bass vibrate your ear canals.
Overall, I highly recommend these earphones for the bass fanatics, or even the casual listener who likes a little more thump in his music. I would look elsewhere if all you listen to is classical-symphony-mids-highs sort of stuff.

The red earbuds lasted less than a month and one ear piece quit working. I've had the blue ones, more expensive and they were great. The v-moda earbuds have wonderful noise-reducing qualities they just don't seem to last. At least the rocker red.
Pretty good

The V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds sound great and are very comfortable, but don't seem very durable. I've had mine for a few months now and they've held up to all the abuse I've given them.
However, one major weak point seems to be where the headphone jack attaches to the cable of the headphones. I think it may be due to the fact that the wire coating is quite thin and rather flexible.
Other than the minor durability concern, they are an excellent pair or earbuds that I recommend to nearly anyone.
C-NET got this one all wrong !?

For the money I was expecting better quality after several months they stopped working as well, then I could only get playback in one ear. They are a cut above the cheapest earbuds and they do stay in pretty well unless you are jumping up and down. I was disappointed but not surprised.

These are great, they produce good base and for the average user they will appreciate the mids and highs. These are not $500 earbuds and should not be compared to them. If you are looking for some good work out earbuds these are great.

These earbuds have excellent sound quality at a reasonable price. They also come with different size silcone tips to fit most ears. The colors available make them very cool.
Bass excellent, but....

I have tried several mid-range priced earbuds from a variety of companies.
I found these V-Moda to have excellent sound and bass (though it takes a while to figure out how deep to put inside your ear because the bass is quite load).
I run daily for several miles each day and I find that I struggle to keep them in my ear. They come with three different sizes for your ear, but they still fall off with the sweat, etc.
I think for simply listening casually these earbuds are great. If you exercise often and with the sweat, these may not work as well for you. (They would fall off as often as the IPOD cheap ear pieces during exercise.)
