Editorial Review
Here’s a nice little saw that’s perfect for consistent cuts at the jobsite or at the heart of the do-it-yourselfer’s workshop. It’s got all the bells and whistles that the big boys have, including T-slots for the miter gauge and a self-aligning fence.

The 13-amp motor produces a no-load rpm of 4,700, and combined with a cut capacity at 90 degrees of 3 inches, it’s a handy saw for trim carpenters and home woodworkers. Even at 45 degrees, you’re still able to cut 2-1/2-inch stock. Blade height and bevel adjustments are smooth and easy, and the fence moves well on the rails, locking securely. Be aware that this table isn’t the solid-surface type; instead, it’s got openings in the surface. Watch your fingers.

Of course, this saw doesn’t have much rip capacity to the right of the blade (not quite 10 inches), as it doesn’t have table extensions, but at this price, we wouldn’t expect that. The saw is still Delta-quality, and we think it’s great for the home do-it-yourselfer who needs to cross-cut 2-by-4s for a deck or other home project.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Amazon.com Product Description
The SM200L portable table saw with stand is lightweight and goes where you need it with plenty of capacity. It is powered by a heavy-duty, 13-amp, 120-volt motor for power and dependability and also has a self-aligning rip fence that locks itself parallel to the blade with a single control lever. The TS200 is perfect for woodworkers who demand high quality and consistent performance at an affordable price. A smooth, anodized aluminum table top provides an ideal work surface, and blade controls are up front for convenient access. The blade-tilting mechanism has positive stops at 45 and 90 degrees, adjustable for accuracy maintenance. Front and rear locking self-aligning rip fence maintains accuracy at the cut. For cutting wide material, integral T-slot grooves hold the miter gauge to prevent tipping and twisting when extended beyond front of table, increasing crosscutting capacity to 13 inches in 1-inch thick material. Convenient out-of-the-way storage holds miter gauge when not in use. A large paddle-style power switch is mounted on the front of the machine for easy shut down. Two-year limited warranty on machines, parts, and accessories. Includes saw, stand, extension wing, support extension, rip fence, miter gage, 10-inch saw blade, standard table insert, blade wrenches, and instruction manual.

What do you expect. 2007-11-26
Nice hobby saw for ocasional use. I've used mine almost every day for close to 2 years. That was to much for it. Bearings seized up so a throw away item now. While it was running it did an ok job. I especially liked the lightweight. Will go with another brand and pay a higher price.

Worked well for me 2007-11-14
The saw worked great for the project I bought it for which was cutting 1" knotty pine paneling and making smaller trim pieces out of larger ones. I also made some nice shelves out of lumber left over from a previous construction project. I rate it good for the occasional home improvement project. It was easy to set up and worked fine out of the box. If you plan on doing fine cuttung, you'll need to replace the balde that comes with it.

Great table saw - shame about the shipping condition! 2007-07-19
I was a little wary of this saw after reading other people's reviews, but after seeing some other people happy with it on a woodworking forum I gave it a try, and I'm very glad I did. Like the last reviewer, I didn't need to adjust the blade at all. It IS tricky to set the guard in place correctly, but you only need to set the guard once, and after that, the saw works beautifully and everything works exactly the way it says it should. Functionally, I don't have a single problem with it.

On the down-side (and I haven't marked down the saw for this, as it isn't the saw's fault) when my order arrived from Amazon, the box looked like it had been trampled by a baby elephant, and a good number of the screws, nuts, washers and so forth were missing. Fortunately, all the parts of the saw itself were there, and with the help of the manual's parts list I found the missing screws and such in about half an hour at the local hardware store - set me back about 5 bucks, rather than going through a tedious, slow complaints process to get another bag of screws.

Chances are, I'm an exception with this, but it's frustrating to spend fifty bucks on shipping and have the box show up in that kind of condition. Next time I'm in the market for something as big as this I'm going to try and find it in a hardware store rather than getting it mailed to me.

Works for Me 2007-07-01
I didn't need to adjust my blade. However, aligning the guard with the blade is a bit tricky. I also wish the table telescoped to accommodate larger workpieces. However, for the money, I think this is a great saw, and comes with a cross-purposable stand that I can mount my grinder on. It's also easy to catch the sawdust through the bottom of the saw if you use the stand. Otherwise, you can just put the saw on bench - just makes cleanup harder. The mitre gauge and rip fence work as advertised. Crosscuts are a piece of cake, and I ripped 2x4 to 2x3 with a 15 degree bevel, no problem. Pushsticks would be nice, but it's easy enough to make your own. Changing the blade level and angle is real easy, too with the spring loaded lock.

Wish I had paid more attention to the prevous review! Thought O.K. it can be adjusted. That's good. ... But not when it is so badly out of alignment that adjustment parameters(which are very hard to access) can't do it. It took several hours and some custom work to get this unit into alignment. DON'T buy unless you like frustration.

This is the second one I've bought. It works really well. I have expensive tools and get just as much work out of this one. It's definitely worth it!

Black & Decker/Delta 10: Table saw 2008-04-27
I ordered the Delta and was sent a Black and Decker which is about the same, which is good. Great buy for the dollar. It is not exactly the sturdiest piece of equipment, but handled properly it works fine for almost anything except for large boards or long pieces. It is not really ideal for critically fine work as the fence and sliding guage are not sturdy enough for a pin-point tight lock down. But I like it fine and will use it regularly.

Great buy 2008-01-23
Based on some of the negative reports I'd read on this item, I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of assembly and adjustment and the overall quality of the saw. I'm getting good clean crosscuts and rips on flooring, paneling and lumber. Plenty of power.

Not very robust 2008-01-08
Out of the box, the ripfence fell apart. Amazon was GREAT about replacing it, even though several months had gone by since we purchased it. Delta couldn't help - the part was on backorder for 2-3 months, maybe indefinitely. When I pointed out that so many people would not have requested replacements if this part had been designed properly, the customer service rep admitted that this table saw is not one of their better products and it will be discontinued shortly. He stated that the product's performance was hurting Delta's reputation, and it's not meant for commercial use. We used the Shopmaster to cut redwood boards for a small terrace and it worked fine. But it's just a matter of time before something else breaks, and then Delta won't have any replacement parts in stock.
