Disappointing 2007-12-24
I purchased this item while in Iraq. As such I didn't use it until just recently, and I was very disappointed.

There is, as you can see in the picture, a clip that attaches to your belt, there are two problems with the clip. The first problem, is the "mount" to the actual case, it screws on. If you move around any great deal, (I went jogging with my dog), after about 100 feet, the entire unit fell on the pavement. Why? It unscrewed itself.

The way the case is designed, is the nipple that screws into the case, is meant swing freely inside the clip, without hampering the tension, meaning, it can turn 360 degrees without comming unscrewed.

The second problem I have, is the clip that buckles onto your belt, is incredibly easy to bend out of shape, but horribly difficult to re-shape.

I like the concept, the case is very durable. However the retaining system should be looked at. As it stands, one piece of thin aluminum is insufficent, thus giving it a 3 / 5.

Just not a good design 2007-03-27
I've bought two of these metal cases for my rx1955 from different retailers and these cases and accompanying clips are not very good.

Pros: The only reason for the two stars is that for the short period I've rigged the cases to work, they have protected my palm pilot very well.

Cons: The first problem I've always had is the "door" of these cases. the door doesn't line up quite right with the side of case, leaving an awkward gap that I think causes problem with the door staying closed. Adding to the problem with the cases is the padding on the inside part of the door which protects your pda from getting damaged by the opening/closing. It's too thick and prevented the door from closing all the way on one of my cases. Finally, the clip mechanism isn't much better. One clip warped extremely bad after only wearing it on my belt for a couple of days while another one just broke. And the screw that went into the back of the metal case and formed the latch for the clip to "clip" onto had a tendency to get unscrewed somehow thus sending my palm pilot plummeting ot the ground. After about two drops with my first case, it would no longer stay shut.

I've since gone back to my trusty leather case which is essentially the same as RhinoSkin iPAQ 4100 Series Leather Flip Case, but designed for the rx1955 and may only be available through Rhino Skin's website

Great product! 2007-03-11
Good job making a sturdy case that does not add too much bulk to a very thin device. My major fear was that this would make my 1955 too thick and I would not use it. It is just right and great protection for my 1955 - by the way I replaced a 4150 with this 1955 and case because my daughter accidently sat on my 4150 and broke the screen. It is a great piece of protection.
