Fantastic earbuds
2008-10-07
I bought these earbuds after reading the reviews here on Amazon. I broke open the case with a small screwdriver (very easy), plugged them in, and they sounded fantastic. I'm not sure if they are better than the ones that came with my iPod, but they are just as good, and they stay in your ear. Get them.
cheap earbuds with good sound = good buy

Just buy them, better yet buy a couple pairs. They sound pretty good, better than the earbuds that came with my ipod that blew, they are dirt cheap, the cord is just the right length, and the case works just peachy if you remember how to do it. I'm happy with them.
Good At First But Gets Bad Later

I bought this item about a month ago.
I was so happy that I finally found cheap earphones that worked very well
However, yesterday the left side just stopped working for no reason at all
and yeah i got so pissed off and I`m looking for new earphones right now
Broke Within a Few Months

Ok, so yeah, the case is impossible to open and definitely takes a hammer. More importantly, I had these headphones for just a couple of months before the left earbud mysteriously shorted out. There is NO damage to the headphones or the cord and I took very good care of them. However, one day the left one simply went out. Perhaps it was an isolated incident, all I know was it was a waste of $10 since I like to hear my music in both ears. Next time I will invest the extra $10 in a pair less likely to short out.
EXCELLENT EARPHONES; RISIBLE REVIEWS

Let's keep it real: these are NOT expensive earphones or earbuds and they come in a storage box [made and meant for human hands, just rubbing it in...] and they sound pretty darn good! Top it off with the fact that they fit quite comfortably [for me, at least], what is there not to be liked about these little wonders? Ah yes, the casing! Well I wind and "unwind" them a couple of times per day with no problemo. I say, I must be a most dexterous genius! BTW, I have the SHE2850, which has a volume control pod, oh horrors...! Not really, as they [wire & pod] usually glide smoothly into the case, if not, I simply pull out a bit and rewind, works everytime. I have big hands and don't like fiddling with small things but they earphones are really not difficult to handle.
Here's how I do it:
To store them [if you haven't smashed the cases already...]: first, put the buds properly in the case and snap it close. Then wind whichever direction you like in a smooth and flowing motion. Don't force it, let it glide in naturally by your winding action. Caution: Never wind the plug into the case, you must be able to see it at the opening of the case [for obvious reasons, it's not meant to go inside if not it will get "itself" jammed].
To "unwind": Keeping the earphones shut in the casing and if you followed the steps above, you will see the plug outside the case [if not, I will lend you my hammmer...], grip hold of the plug and gently pull the wire out, again, in a smooth and flowing movement to unroll, rather than unwind, it. Put them in your ears [... the earphones... not the plug... after removing them from the case... you know what I mean] and enjoy!
Try it!

Compared these to buds that came with the Sansa e250 MP3 player, and they're really bad: very quiet, and almost inaudible if you snug them into your ear like you'd think you should. No, these you must actually pivot them a little in your ear, else sound is totally blocked. Then compared them to some Creative buds, and the difference was even worse. The Philips are too bad to live with.
Good Sound, Price fair.

These sound better than my original iPod buds definitely. I bought them with some 4 Neil Young CDs and they handle the piercing guitar, finger work, crisp cymbals nicely; especially the early stuff with the long solos. I'm hearing these early songs like I never have before. They're not a rip-off.
Great Value

I have bought two pairs of these Philips SHE2650's and I really like them for the price. Philips needs to put directions on the packaging on how to get them out of the carrying case however. There isn't even any information on the Philip web site about how to use the wind-up case. That aside, I like the sound quality for the price. I have a pair of Ultimate Ears that sound much better, but they cost 10X more. Frankly, these are more comfortable than in-ear monitors and I can hear the phone ring and other essential sounds while wearing them. For casual MP3s recorded at 160 kbps, they sound just fine. If I lose them or they wear out, it's no big deal. If you are looking for comfort and acceptable sound quality at a reasonable price, these are a great value.
Worst headphones ever

These are the worst headphones I have ever purchased. The packaging is terrible, the carry case deserves a hammer, and the cable is far too short.
Don't waste your money!
