Outstanding value for money

This is my fourth laptop purchase in the previous six years. This laptop has the best all-round specs that its price can buy. It is remarkable that every single spec. works very well. The keyboard gives a solid feel; similar to a very good desktop model. Gets five stars which it completely deserves.
The only compliant, if I may, is that people bought it from Best Buy for more than 100 dollars less.

Pros: Very light, sharp, bright screen. Good specs for the price. (Like another reviewer, paid $600 at Best Buy).
Cons: The builtin 3945ABG networking did not work with an old Netgear 802.11b router with WEP enabled. It would work only if encryption was turned off. Router firmware upgrade and new drivers for the network interface did not help. Battery seems to recharge very slowly if computer is in use.
Toshiba M105-s3041 First laptop 2006-07-27
This is my first laptop, I paid 599.00 at Best Buy. It works great. I am very impressed. I have 2 dells and was not sure if I would like this Toshiba. It is great Nice and fast. I have had no problem seeing the screen. The specs are unbelieveable for the price. I compared other laptop brands none came close with these specs for the price. I highly recommend.

Recientemente adquiri esta Laptop en New York en Circuit City y ha sido de gran satisfaccion ya que es muy practica y de ligero peso para ser trasportada .Contiene lo esencial que requiero para los trabajos que ejecuto , tiene capacidad para ser expandida la memoria Ram algo muy imp. , el sitema de wireless es bueno y las baterias duran bastante . Les recomiendo esta maquina para todo aquel que busque de una laptop .Paque menos de $ 650.00 .
La pantalla de 14.1 " diagonal es muy buena y tiene una buena nitidez . El sistema de cd y dvd es multi recorder lo cual es muy importante .

Received it yesterday...for 599.99 from ofdept dot com after price match from crkt cty. Hoping I will get an additional 150$ off MIR that OD currently has.
Ran the dead pixel test, no dead pixels turned up!
Also played an entire movie on DVD, on power. Lasted around 2.5 hours.(normal life, I would presume)
Screen is too bright at times (see review on crkt cty), and one needs to constantly move it to adjust to right view.
Also, the DVD was a little sketchy when one moves the mouse over(as if there were scratches), and also, audio would be distorted if one attempted to open some other application.(For eg, I ran the WinXP tour)
Other than these small grouses, it looks awesome, there's absolutely no noise from the fan at all. Doesn't (hasn't) heated up a lot on me yet.

More Than I Expected 2007-01-20
I am extremely satisfied with the performance and capabilities of this laptop. I was looking for a small 12.1" but settled for this when I couldn't pass it up for only $[...]. after rebate. I must admit, I wasn't expecting too much for this price but I was blown away by the performance and quality. WiFi works great! Speakers are good, love the easy volume wheel on front edge.
I use this at home all the time instead of my desktops, its just so convenient and I haven't had any problems since purchasing 7 months ago. The only thing I added was a bluetooth adapter. Highly recommend this laptop if you can still find one.

Nice and really bright wide screen. Operation is FASTER than I expected (it doesn't come with Core processor). Very light to carry. Nicely designed. I love the laptop color too, even the factory stickers look cool on it!
I have only 2 complains: I expected MORE of the integrated sound card. When I want a very high volume it doesn't give it. But I think it is normal in laptop's world. So I have to upgrade to a PCMCIA sound card that solved completely the situation. My second complain is: WHY YOU GUYS PUT THE WINDOWS KEY UPSIDE????, it's very uncomfortable that place. Besides ALL THE WORLD is accustomed to find this key in the lower section of a keyboard, just beside space bar !
However it haven't avoided to buy this Laptop if I had known all of this before!, this is a great computer!
Great value 2006-10-03
I've had this model for about 2 months. For the price I paid ($599) it's a great machine. You'll pay double for a comparable Dell. It's small, lightweight, and runs smoothly. It does have a lot of included software, but some of the Toshiba stuff is pretty neat, like the touchpad utility (you can assign corners to different tasks).
Great system with tons of junkware 2006-09-03
I just received the M105-S0441 (my first Toshiba) and I am absolutely thrilled with the hardware - bright display, no stuck pixels, solid lid and case, and great keyboard. Its a keeper but I am disappointed about the junkware. Five different add-remove-programs entries for AOL, McAfee (useless for me) wouldn't un-install cleanly and lots of Toshiba not-needed-ware. With all of the reboots - it took and hour and a half to get all of the junk off of it - but it is still a great little system for the price. Highly recommended as long as you don't want to play 3D games. Update on 23 SEP: I've had this system for three weeks now and continue to be impressed. Just noticed this morning that the 512-mb of RAM is on the motherboard - and there is an open RAM slot. Competing companies tend to have two 256-mb RAM modules - forcing you to buy two 512-mb modules to upgrade the RAM to 1-gb. Nice touch on Toshiba's part. I had a spare SATA hard-drive so I used the Restore DVD with no problems at all (although it did restore the AOL/McAfee software). I know this probably sounds phony - and I don't work for Toshiba or Amazon - but this continues to be a fantastic system for the price. Oh - there is one small negative - there's a good amount of light leakage at the bottom of the LCD. It doesn't bother me but it is noticeable.
Very good laptop for the price. 2006-08-25
This is the second Toshiba Satellite laptop I have purchased. The first one is 7 years old and still runs perfectly, however, with a 266 Pentium and Win 98 it's slooooo!. The M105-S3041 I am using now has good value for the price. I looked at a lot of Dell, HP, Compaq and Offbrands before I decided to stay with the Toshiba brand. I have owned a few Toshiba products and have never had a problem with any of them and I don't expect any with this one either. It ran great right out of the box. I did spend a little time after setup deleting most of the supplied software and replacing theirs with mine. The bundled stuff just is not that great but most of you guys already know that anyway. The machine is fast and the 80 GB hard drive is adquite for most of my needs. The various card readers built in are a help too because I take a lot of photos with several different cameras using multiple cards. The reader even reads the XD cards quite well. I am very pleased with this PC and with Toshiba as well. There are faster laptops out there with a few more features but you will pay a lot more for them. The only thing that I have seen with this PC that I don't like is the amount of vibration that comes from the DVD +/- Everything burner. Some disks act as if they are out of balance and cause a lot of vibration in the drive which transferrs to the body of the laptop. I think the vibration comes from out of round disks because not all of them cause vibration. Still, I wish Toshiba had a better way of treating the vibration by containing it in the DVD bay. One other item I almost overlooked. Toshiba is one of just a few that includes a Recovery and Restore Disk with an operating system included. That is a big plus. Before you buy a PC of any kind, be sure you will have access to a restore feature that includes an operating system! If your Hard Drive bites the dust and you don't have access to a restore disk for your particular PC then it may become an expensive task to restore your operating system in the PC.
