This thing has a horizontal line on the screen which never goes away and Steve Jobs and Apple refuses to fix or even address.

This thing has a horizontal line on the screen which never goes away and Steve Jobs and Apple refuses to address.
Mine and other people I know and read their posts experience a mysterious horizontal line of uniform width and height, just a solid horizontal bar of what may be dead pixels.
It happens if the Nano is left on a charger for a while, or taken in a backpack during winter and other things the owners describe.
The comments on the discussion forums at Apples web site are numerous but are unanswered by Apple support techs (worthless as they are anyway) and the Apple web site even has the audacity to archive the postings so you can't even respond to them if you had a solution !!!
I'm sure the Steve Jobisciples will flame this review with unhelpful votes and flaming comments and you should as long as Apple is providing you with whatever narcotic to keep you spending on these substandard products. Microshaft isn't any better but at least they post fixes and address issues while Apple just ignores what is obviously a wide spread problem.
Apple SUCKS!

Honestly, why would anyone buy any apple product when you can get any other Mp3 player that would be twice as good for half the price.
Disappointed

I was not told about a fairly large dent against the earphone socket- the earphones still worked, but I would have liked to be aware of a dent in such an important place instead of being told that there were simply "dents."
Love it

I love my i-pod. I have had it for 2 years now and I still consider it one of the best purchases I have ever made. I work in landscaping and I also own two horses which means I spend a lot of time outside. I have subjected this i-pod to everything. From dropping it in water buckets to running it over with my truck and dropping it on pavement repeatedly (accidentally of course.)
It still works beautifully and I would not trade it for anything. It is very scratched but that is my own fault.
I would recommend this product to anyone who leads an active life style but doesn't like quiet.
Capable, but not great

Apple iPod nano - Like a before and after picture, this updated iPod nano sports a slimmer, more attractive, all-alluminum body; as well as a 1.5" LCD thats 40% then before. But if you need brains with your beauty, then Apple has you covered there as well. You get a new, higher capacity battery that can playback up to 24 hours of music, or 5 hours of photo slideshows. The best part is, for about the same price of an older iPod nano, you're getting twice the capacity! Syncs seamlessly with iTunes Connector for Optional dock Stereo Minijack Hold Switch Charge Time - about 3 hours (1.5 hour fast charge to 80% capacity) Audio Support - AAC (16 to 320 Kbps) / Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store) / MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps) / MP3 VBR / Audible (formats 2, 3,&4) / Apple Lossless / WAV / AIFF Photo Support - JPEG / BMP / GIF / TIFF / PSD (Mac only) / PNG Sync&Charge via USB Cable Adjust audiobook playback speed Create multiple on-the-go playlists Shuffle songs or albums Repeat one or all 20 Equalizer settings Backlight Timer Display Contrast Alarm - On / Off / Silent Sleep Timer Date&Time Display time in menu bar Color - Blue Supports - Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later, Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later Unit Dimensions - 3.5 x 1.6 x 0.26 Unit Weight - 1.41 ounces
One bad Apple iPod

This was by far my worst purchase experience ever at Amazon. The supposedly "Factory Refurbished" iPod did not work properly, had scratches/nicks on the case and I highly doubt it came from Apple. The process of getting my money refunded was too long. Their "online live assistance" is a sham, it does not even work. It took threats to get any response from the Seller. They totally misrepresented the product. I bought a current generation refurbished iPod (that looks and works like new) directly from Apple for the same price. I will never purchase anything else from this Seller.

The product came very quickly and was in good condition. There were no scratches and the software functions correctly. The earbuds were damaged, however, giving the impression that the iPod was damaged. When the earbuds were replaced the product worked as it should.

Scroll wheel sucks
2008-06-20
You've all owned an ipod before, so there's not much to say here. It's the best and easiest to use MP3 player on the market. 5/5
One annoying flaw about it is how it just randomly resets from time to time. Takes about 20 seconds to start back up again. Whatever, just a minor glitch. I'll live with it.
My real issue with it, and the reason why I'm writing this review, is the scroll wheel, which is not very durable at all. After less than a year, the forward button stopped working altogether. So I mailed mine back to Apple (paying like a ridiculous $20 for shipping) and got a new one... except that the forward button on this ipod broke too, this time after 6 months. I've read other reviews that had scroll wheel issues, so I know it's not just me.
So I'll probably end up buying a new MP3 player. And yeah, it'll probably be another ipod, even though I'm now reluctant to do so. Call me a sucker, but itunes just blows every other file transfer software out of the water. Shows the current state of the MP3 market we have right now.
