Ugg--An Expensive Clunker
2008-04-27
I was not so happy with it anyway, and when I went to buy ink I thought, "Am I crazy." I returned it and got a black and white multi-function laser printer. It's cheep to run (after the initial investment), fast, better quality, and the text can be highlighted without smearing.
This is true love!
Works Poorly with a Mac

Note that I am using this with an Apple MacBook Pro.
The most frustrating thing about this printer has been trying to get it to print on the right paper. Even after going through all the print settings to set the paper feed tray to the photo tray which holds the 4 X 6 paper, it will feed paper from the 8.5 X 11 tray on the first print. I always have to print over, or trim the large paper. I'm not sure where the bug is, in Apple's software or HP's.
When I finally get the paper right, the color and sharpness of the print is great. It's far more expensive in paper than I had any idea it would be, however.
Waste of Money

I bought the HP 7360 16 months ago. No question about the quAlity of photos: they are excellent. However, the five color cartridges are a joke. Not only do they hold very little ink, their inks "seem to disappear" even if you use the printer mostly for documents in black print. Over the past year, I have had to replace the cartidges three times, resulting in an ink relacement cost exceeding the cost of the printer.
When I checked with a couple of ink cartridge stores, I was told that this was a common complaint of users of the 7360, and was also told that the problem was that the colored inks got drawn into the printing head even if only the black cartridge was being used to produce documents.
I can't verify if this is true or not, but only that my personal experiences tend to support this claim.
If anyone wondered why such complex devices as computers printers are being sold at giveaway prices, you need only to keep buying replacement ink cartridges and add up their costs to find the answer.
Do not buy it

Awful machine. If you use the tray the paper gets very often stuck and it is not easy to clear the paper jam. Try some other brand.
faded photos, fried after a year

I bought this just over a year ago...never quite happy with the photo quality but just thought that's the way they are now; Now, after a year, the photo color have faded tremendously and looks crappy. this was on the best print setting with premium paper.
NOW, after one year of mild use, this printer has an INK SYSTEM FAILURE. it's gone...after one year. no help from HP and over warranty by one month.
Hoping to find a decent canon or kodak that prints the way it should...for 24 cents a copy. Otherwise, i'll stick with shutterfly.

excellent printer!

This is the best printer I have ever owned. It prints gorgeous photos. I recently scanned a photo that a lovely woman gave to me a coupe of years ago(using an hp 5550c scanner). She is wearing a lot of red. The colors matched perfectly. That's a first for any printer I've owned. Text pages are fast, also. The printer is a bit noisey, but that isn't really an issue with me. I have an Epson Stylus R320, also. I bought that because it prints onto printable CD's/DVD's. In my opinion, the HP is a much better printer, though the newer Epsons seem to be equal to it. This is the best all-around printer I know of for the money. Highly recommended.

Printout quality is good. Speed is good once printing starts but often there is an interminable delay before printing starts.
Way to go HP !!

Well you can see my review of another HP printer. In it I was wondering if I would buy HP again or not. Well...............I did! I bought a HP Photosmart D7360 printer. Its wonderful. Its the best printer I've ever had. Has a separate tray for 4x6 photo paper thats always there, ready to go. I love it. Photo printing is excellent as is document printing. It also has 6 individual inks, which is a plus as far as I'm concerned. I really think HP is the best printer for the money. I've had other brands and I will never buy another one with that name on it. So for me HP fills the bill the best. Good luck.
Awesome Pictures

Awesome printer, pictures are perfect, if you want to find a negative then the printer is pretty large and heavy, but worth it for the quality of photos it produces, very nice and I have always had good luck with HP products(thus far).
