Broth concentrate 2008-07-21
EXCELLENT, excellent product. Need some flavor for you soup or gravy? add this item. Easy to use and very tasty.

Awsome Concentrate 2008-03-24
We were looking for a product with great flavor and no MSG and found it in this item. Our entire family likes it.

great price for a high-end broth 2008-01-01
My local Whole Foods has been out of this for ages so I looked on Amazon. The price is great (it goes for $6.99 an individual box at Whole Foods). I make lots of homemade soups and stew and this is by far the best broth I've tried including Penzey's which was my previous favorite.

Very salty and a little strange 2007-12-10
Maybe I had my expectations set too high after reading the other reviewers. This is nothing like homemade beef broth. Yes, it's better than bullion, and it avoids the "tinny" taste that canned broths tend to have. However, it still has a hard-to-describe strange flavor, not the rich beefy taste others described. Plus, it's very very salty. It's hard to make a good sauce or soup from it because of the amount of salt.

According to the package, a serving is 2 teaspoons reconstituted to 1 cup, which has 770 mg of sodium. However, this is very misleading. The box has 7 pouches, which is supposedly enough to make 12 cups. However, if you only use 2 teaspoons per cup, you get a weak and flavorless broth. This is why the package instructions (as opposed to the nutritional information panel) tell you that to make one cup of broth, you should add a whole pouch. So, rather than using the 2 teaspoon "serving," you're really using about 3 1/2 teaspoons! So, if you follow directions a box makes only 7 cups, and you're getting 1,320 mg of sodium per cup. Pucker up!

It's not terrible, but it's nothing like the quality of a good boxed chicken broth. I'm certainly not going to reorder it once I run out; I'd rather just avoid recipes that require beef broth.

About time someone sold good stock! 2007-05-14
real stock! salt isn't the number one ingredient. We use it as a marinate starter for roast beef and steaks...

Absolutely delicious! 2007-02-27
This broth tastes just like roast beef; rich, delicious and full of flavor. Some may think it's a little salty so taste your food before seasoning with extra salt. I'm definitely going to buy more because it is so easy to turn into broth and takes up much less cupboard space than the boxes of stocks. Excellent product.

Fantastic product 2006-11-23
Savory Choice is the best stock I've found and I love everything about it. First off, it's flavor is incomparable to any other pre-made stock product and it really tastes like what chicken stock is supposed to taste like. I shared it with my grandmother and it won even *her* stamp of approval. Secondly, I love that it is concentrated so that you make up just the amount you need, which is especially handy when you are deglazing a pan to make a sauce, for example; you don't end up with a whole quart container going bad in your fridge. Finally, if there's anything I learned from NY apt. living, I love how small the footprint is of the box, itself. It's also great to pack for backpacking trips, to keep in your desk at work, etc.
They make chicken, beef, and turkey and around the Bay Area, it's available at Whole Foods, Berkeley Bowl, Andronico's, etc.

Delicious -- and no cans to store 2006-08-16
I've used this Savory Choice product for over a year and can recommend it highly. It is delicious and easy. Inside each individual packet is a thick liquid: just add it to a cup of water to make the broth. This is not like the low-salt, low-fat powders or the canned products but more like broth you've cooked from scratch. Comes in beef, chicken, and turkey flavors. I keep it handy on my RV as well as in my kitchen.
