Perfect A/V transmissions / useless for IR 2008-07-19
I bought a separate unit for handling the remote control transmissions, so the problems with the units weak IR functionality are not relevant to my setup. I do take one star off for having to use a separate unit for the remote, but the A/V transmits clearly and dependably, right out of the box. The setup was way easier than many more expensive solutions I have worked with. Highly recommended.

High Hopes - Major Issue 2008-07-12
I was hoping that this was going to be the solution for a difficult issue to address. Setup was a breeze and the product appeared to work as expected.

Here is my setup: TV is 9.5 feet in the air, sitting on ledge. Utilizing a large piece of furniture near the TV, I was able to position the receiver and transmiter within three feet of each other (yet still not in line of sight). I connected a DVD player to the transmitter, and receiver to the TV. DVD quality was great.

Pleased with my setup, took the ladder down and switched back to the TV (from Input 1). Much to my surprise, nothing on the TV station. Switched to the next station, fine, back two - fine. Then started flipping through and some worked, others didn't (if it was out - I was getting a blue screen - not static or interference).

Set the ladder back up and climbed up - went to a station that didn't work. If I moved the receiver around, a station would partially come in (but not even close to being good). So, I started troubleshooting:

1) Shut off the transmitter, nothing.
2) Unplugged all of the connections (minus power) from the receiver, nothing.
3) Moved the receiver 6 ft from the TV (still only plugged into power), nothing.

Not until after I unplugged the receiver (from power) did the stations immediately come back.

Also - there was bad interference when using the remote to change the TV stations and adjust the volume - large amounts of static when on any station (DVD mode - Input 1 as well).

I would give this a 5 if it didn't have this side effect. Even if it is my TV (which is only a couple of years old - a Sharp 27"), it isn't practical for me to purchase a new TV to address this issue. Its obvious that this receiver is putting off some sort of signal that the TV is really not happy with.

So I'm giving it a 2 and sending the unit back for refund. Really a shame, because I was really hoping this was going to work. This is not a practical solution for me, since I can't reach 9ft in the air to flip the power switch on the receiver. Concept is great - execution is poor (at least for me).

Works great with Tivo! 2008-03-20
Works great with Tivo. We transmit our Tivo signal using this system and after purchasing a few extra receivers we can now watch everything on our Tivo all over the house. We even take a receiver and small TV out on the deck in the summer so we can watch tivo everywhere with no need to buy an extra Tivo box or monthly subscription.

It's also important to remember that you can listen to the music saved on your computer through your main stereo system wirelessly as long as you have a Tivo connected. This allows us to stream music all over the house simultaneously. I highly recommend buying this system.

So far, so good. 2008-02-10
Sometimes the remote extender isnt as good as it should be, but the video and audio quality is great. Lets hope it last a few years

Almost Perfect 2008-01-03
My original review was a 5 but after a couple of weeks of use I have had to lower it to a 4. The picture is great but the remote extension isn't up to par with the picture. Some days it works great and other days it won't work at all. Most of the time it is in between and the channel will change when you want except instead of going one channel at a time it starts going through a loop till it gets tired and stops on a random channel. I've also figured out that when using the normal tv source I have to shut off the transmitter in order for the remote on that tv to work properly. The main thing though is that the picture transmitted from the living room to the bedroom is great and the remote issues are simply an inconvenience. This is only a temporary set up for a few months and does what we needed.

Expands your viewing capability! 2007-06-02
I bought this to replace another brand. I have wireless networking for my computer in my home. The other brand got terrible reception because it transmitted on the same frequency as my computer network and my cordless phones. This transmitter is on a different frequency and it sends a crystal clear picture to the TV in my garage. Great quality product.

5.8ghz 2007-03-14
I purchased the 5.8ghz audio video sender and works great around the home.
There is no interferance and the picture is great.

strong signal 2007-03-08
The signal is very strong and its quality its also high, but the range for the remote control extender is very low, the image and sound fly far but you cant control the dvd, satellite or source.

pleasantly suprised 2007-01-03
First of all, you must pair this system with a CATV to RCA converter (I used the Grandtec TUN-2000) for it to be truly functional. And second I wouldn't even try this thing with digital cable or satellite. But for just basic cable, when you want to have a TV where there's no cable outlet, it gets the job done - at 5.8Ghz to boot, so as not to interfere with wireless internet. And the picture quality is indistinguishable from a regular cable plug-in.

This is not to say anything about the reliability of the product. As other users have reported, it seems cheaply constructed and will probably not work any longer than 6 months. The only long term solution is to run cable.

This product is for you if you:

1. Need to put a TV in a room with no cable outlet.

2. Have the 2.4Ghz spectrum already occupied by wireless phone or internet.

3. Plan to eventually run cable to the room or buy another system every six months when it breaks.
