Cutting holes in a Corvette 2007-05-23
I put off tubbing my Corvette(making the wheel wells bigger for larger tires), I just could not bring myself to take a crude cut-off tool to the wheel wells. But when I saw the MultiMaster tool, I knew I had a solution. With great confidence and control, I was able to cut out the desired parts of the fiberglass wheel wells with great precision and success. Minimal dust was generated also. I will now always have this tool in mind this for any of my projects.

Amazing Fein MultiMaster 2007-05-15
No, the Fein isn't a cheap tool to buy, but unlike others in the crop of high-priced tools, the Multi-Master stands out in that it actually does jobs few, if any other tool can do. Even if you bought it just for it's detail sanding abilities, you haven't even scratched the surface.

I've used it to undercut door jambs when installing flooring--but it's saw attachement is also great for a quick trim of a cut-out that needs enlarging.

For tile work, it's great--can not only remove old grout, but can trim up tiles as well. Need to scrap old mastic off a floor or paint off a surface---the Fein does the job.

Yes the blades are EXPENSIVE, but tool is still OUTSTANDING! 2007-02-17
When I bought the MultiMaster 2XL Kit, I wondered how much I would actually use it in my "Handyman" business. Since I "bit the bullet" and spent the money about a year ago I have come to wonder how I lived without this amazing tool for so long.
In the last two days I have used it to: #1 Cut through the grout lines and cement backer-board to allow access to frozen pipes hidden between a tiled shower and a masonry outer wall. It cut cleanly, allowing me to replace the tiles, still on the backerboard and regrout with no tiles damaged for a clean repair. #2 Cut through the back of a tiled-in vanity to access more frozen pipes. The ability to cut straight into and through a variety of materials with a minimum of mess and collateral damage, in places that defy cutting with any other tool, is priceless in my work. #3. Cut through old, multilayered paint on antique baseboard, top, side, mitered corner, and flush at the floor, to allow me to remove it without damage to the baseboard, floor or plaster wall, again to access frozen pipes requiring repair. I was able to replace the baseboard with only a barely visible caulk line and tiny 21 gauge headless brad holes to bear evidence that I had even been there. #4. I sanded right-up to an inside corner on a stair tread to allow blending of old and new wood. You must allow the tool to do the work, rotating the paper to access all 3 edges and changing the paper when it ceases to cut or you will trash the sanding pad, but it is a remarkable sander when used carefully.
ALL the accessories are VASTLY overpriced so buy the 2XL kit and get as many as possible included with the tool. I do not understand why they have to be so expensive. It certainly isn't because they are exceptionally tough. I have taken to using 4" diameter HSS jeweler's saw blades for many cutting jobs when being flush to a surface doesn't matter.
I bill time and material in my business and I do bill my customer when I destroy a blade on a screw or nails. (I killed 2 flush saw blades today so I buy them 3 at a time to lower the cost each a little.)
Despite the cost of accessories I highly recommend this amazingly useful tool. It will allow you to do some jobs faster, easier, and cleaner than you ever could have imagined without it.

fein multimaster variable speed tool 2007-01-10
I was not sure about the power of this tool because of the size but after using it I am very pleased with it's performance. It does not vibrate in my hand, it is very easy to hold and control. I would reccomend it to everyone that is looking for a tool that does just about everything.

Fein MultiMaster 2006-11-03
I bought this tool primarily to use on a wooden boat restoration project. I have been able to use this tool to cut through fasteners that would be very difficult to get at with any other tool. It has performed very well for this application. Using the Metal / wood saw blade attachment; I was able to cut between two joined pieces of wood without destroying the wood. The precision of the tool makes it almost a surgical device. On the other hand I have a couple of complaints about this tool. First is the method used to attach the various attachments to the tool. There are two different sized screw fasteners required to fasten the attachments to the tool using an Allen wrench. After very little use I can already see wear on the Allen head bolt and I now have to be very careful not to strip out the bolt head. It is important to use the correct size screw to match the accessory being used. If the tool isn't attached just right, you can easily damage the accessory. This aspect of the tool should be reengineered to make it more user friendly. Second, the tool accessories are overpriced for what they are. One shouldn't have to pay 20.00-40.00 plus for a cutting attachment. Fein has a right to make a margin but on this they are going overboard. Lastly, I have gone through two sanding disc's with the rubber separating from the metal backing after very little use. Fein has replaced these parts at no cost and said that it may have been a bad batch so I give them an A for customer service. All in all this tool is hard to beat for doing certain tasks.

Multi Master Quality 2007-12-18
I am a finish carpenter of 25 years at Lake Tahoe Calif. & after trying several other detail tools this Fein tool beats them all hands down. If you are looking for smooth action, quality, & durability then look no more. If you just want a detail sander for the garage than the Bosch or Porter Cable might be the ticket but if you want to be using it 5 years from now then the Fein is definitely worth the extra money. Once you learn "when" to use it you will reach for it all the time. Great for flush cutting door trim to allow for new flooring, cutting in electrical boxes, sanding, & who knows what else. Replacement attachments are available right here at Amazon. "GREAT TOOL" Jerry Lowe.

Pricey, but works. 2007-12-03
I wish someone would make a knock-off of this thing. It works fine, but everything is way too expensive (blades, sandpaper, etc....)

This actually is about the only tool you can use for some jobs. Too bad it costs so much. I'd use it more, probably, if it, and the blades, were a little cheaper.

Its FEIN tool 2007-11-12
very versatile tool!! i bought it specifically to help with hardwood floor repairs but have found so many more uses. I only wish i found it years ago!!

Great for electrical work 2007-09-22
As an electrician, I have to cut out many rectangular holes for switches and receptacles. This tool is much easier and cleaner than the RotoZip I was using before. It is by far the greatest for use on plaster and lath. I cut the plaster with the grit blade and then cut the lath with the saw blade. Worth every penny.

Disappointing 2007-06-08
May be fine for very light jobs but will not handle any "real" projects. Replacement tools are very expensive and will not handle construction projects. This is more of a "hobby" tool. I was very disappointed.
