Slim, lightweight, and powerful 2008-04-13
So far, this product has been terrific. I am going to Spain for two weeks and I look forward to putting it to work. I have been using it over the last week to make sure it works and I have been pretty happy with it. The only problem (not anything major) is the way that it clips to the iPod. First, I have to remove my case. However, I do not remove the clear screen overlay protector and the clip causes the screen overlay to bubble a little. The big test will be over the next few weeks.

Wonderful for iPod 5G, not perfectly suitable for iPhone/Touch 2008-02-26
The charger delivers on its promise of quick, powerful charging and battery backup for the iPod 5G (Classic). I was more than pleased with its performance. However, note that it is not designed for all-around use on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The fit for those products is less than ideal. Also, one cannot use the headphone jack when chargling the iPhone/iPod Touch. That said, on long flights (over 5 hours), this unit provides the necessary to juice to get your iPod up and running again!

Works with iPhone, but not perfectly 2008-01-21
This is a well-built product. It doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. It works with my iPhone, but it is made for the iPod (not touch), so the dimensions don't fit the iphone perfectly. There is a small gap between the back of the iPhone and the wall of the charger. It's not a big deal, but the clip doesn't fit either. But in the end, it does what it's supposed to do, charge the iPhone, so I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Does what it says 2007-12-21
This product performs as it states. I like the on/off button. It does make the iPod a lot bulkier and although the iPod will stand in it, that's not very useful for viewing (needs to be able to tilt up). The belt clip is secure. All in all, a good product for taking your iPod on a long airplane trip.

Excellent for long trips 2007-07-20
In my last trip from LA to Malaysia (15 hours in airplane) I can enjoy all road with music and video. It never let me without charge inside the airplane.

Does exactly what I'd hoped for 2007-07-06

Excellent! 2007-05-12
Nice, well-designed external battery. Excellent capacity. Compact and lightweight. On a recent trip, charged my video 60 gb and Mini Ipod and had more power to spare. Battery power indicator very useful.

Works GREAT 2007-03-18
Works Great last a long time!

If it is dead when you get it in the box just charge it over night and it will be good to go.

Exchanged Volta Works Fine 2007-03-12
March 11, 2007

I just got this yesterday and have yet to use it with my black 80 GB iPod. I purchased this after reading a lot of the reviews at iloungedotcom about all the different external battery packs available.

Attached to my black iPod, it looks great. The Volta's design integrates nicely with the iPod. Sonnet should also make a white version for the white iPods. The belt clip that comes with the Volta is a tight fit and is hard to get on and off. Once the clip is on, however, the Volta is securely attached to the iPod. The clip assembly does not even slide up or down the length of the iPod while attached. I tried attaching the belt clip once and probably won't use it in fear of scratching the face of the iPod.

The only small complaint I have is that the black dock connector-to-USB cable that comes with the Volta did not fit as well in the iPod dock connection as the Apple cable that comes with the iPod. I didn't try to force it into the dock connection.

Also, the Volta instruction booklet states that the iPod needs to be removed before charging the Volta although I emailed Sonnet customer service and the reply stated that it was acceptable to charge both the Volta and the iPod simultaneously.

I have had a chance to actually use the Volta. I ran down my 80GB ipod Video and used the Volta to charge it. I got less than two full charges. Now I am trying to charge the Volta fully again and it doesn't seem to be charging. I contacted Sonnet support and they said I must have a faulty unit. I will have to exchange this one.

March 19, 2007

I received my replacement Volta after the first one wouldn't charge anymore. I took it out of the box and tried to turn it on and no LED's would come on. It took a couple of minutes of charging before the red charging LED came on.

It has been charging for over 8 hours and the red LED has not turned off yet. It's supposed to turn off when charging is complete and fully charging the unit is supposed to only take approximately 6 hours. I will charge this longer to see if the LED turns off.

March 20, 2007

I woke up to find a fully charged Volta.

March 27, 2007

I used the Volta over the weekend from Thursday to Monday and it finally died Monday afternoon leaving me with a fully charged iPod. I have charged it again with no problems whatsoever. I would recommend this product to others.
