Great for braces 2008-07-26
This is the second Waterpik Ultra Dental jet we have bought. My son has had braces for 18 months and needs to use this product constantly. It works great and was recommended by his Orthodontist's office staff. The price is reasonable. They don't last forever with the constant use, but we just bought another one after the firstr 18 months.

An Improved Product 2008-07-25
This product is substantially improved over the previous WaterPik I owned. It is quieter, the water container has a lid with accessories inside, and the water tubing spirals into a slot. However it would be a superior product if the container-forming lid snapped shut. It tends to drop open when lifted. And the spiral water tubing should be made easily replaceable.

Waterpik Review 2008-07-23
The waterpik performs as advertised, and does a much better job of removing food particles from between my gums than floss...with a lot less hassle. Particularly from the hard to reach places between the rear molars.

Good Item 2008-07-20
Waterpik's Ultra Dental Water Jet is a quality product with several nice features. The water container is a bit small but I suspect that's for a reason. This model is an improvement over my last Waterpik. I'd buy another one!

Great product 2008-07-20
My dental hygienist was very surprised with the great result after just two weeks of me using it.

Effective, but Durability is Questionable 2008-07-19

Healthier teeth and no more floss 2008-07-18
The machine does as it advertises to give you healthier teeth/gums than if you were using floss.

To those of you having trouble with the pause button sticking and not coming back up, try running a 1:4 vinegar:water solution through the reservoir, all the while repeatedly pushing the pause button. Mine was starting to stick, so I read something about running vinegar solution through. After one run with the solution, the pause button very nearly stopped sticking altogether.

Pleased with the purchase 2008-07-18
I am pleased with the Waterpik. I like its compact size and doesn't take up a lot of space on the counter. This is my first Waterpik so cannot compare it to others, but for one or two people's use, it seems to work well.

great dental maintenance tool! 2008-07-15
I find flossing to take too much time, and this water jet is a great time saver to help keep my gums healthy. One drawback is that food tends to stick on my teeth easier when eating since using the waterpik.
Another note, the handle started leaking little by little and finally became unusable after 6 months of use. I went on the waterpik site and contacted customer service. My replacement part was promptly processed, and I received it in about two weeks, no problem.

Waterpik Ultra 2008-07-14
I was interested in this product for its deep pocket cleaning abilities. After reading other reviews before purchasing, I would say that they are pretty accurate. The jet is VERY strong (especially at the 10 setting) but the water reservoir does deplete quicker than comfortable. However, this is not that big of a deal in my opinion as since I don't have much counter space, refilling only on "extra-cleaning" days is more preferred to me than a unit with a reservoir twice or even three times the size.

As for the leaking rubber grommet, it is also true. It is due to the fact that the water level is higher in the wand than at the grommet so that when you put it away the residual water eventually settles down and leaks out at the grommet. However, I want to note that the water doesn't spill out and over onto the counter. This is because the grommet is inside the basin area that you insert the water reservoir into and is sort of designed to catch drips. I have found that if I simply hold the wand down into the sink area for a few seconds after I'm finished and while I am dumping the unused water out of the reservoir, excess water will leak out of the cleaning tip so that when I replace the wand back onto the unit, no more water leaks out of the grommet. Yes, this is an extra maintenance step, but really no big deal. After all, I am already spending lots more effort cleaning my teeth.

My bottom line is that this unit does what I need it to do most which is to produce a strong jet of water. The fact that the water hose retracts so nicely, this thing seems like it will last a while, and that the unit looks quite stylish overall to me is well worth the $50.
