Review of Luther Vandross

Some of his best work! He had such a smoothe yet dynamic voice. He is missed by all who enjoy good, soulful, heart stirring music!

When a disc has the word "ultimate" in its title, it should be expected to encompass the best, if not all, in an artist's collection. Sadly, though the release is representative of many of the hits in Vandross's lengthy and stellar career, it is lacking so many others that the title is a misnomer.
Boasting only two "new" tracks, the others, as has been stated before, can be found on other compilations, along with the ones that should've been included here.
Luther deserved a better "tribute." Hopefully, a real ULTIMATE PACKAGE will be forthcoming!

There wwereas only two new songs on the CD, cost too much for so many old songs. I was dissapointed
4.5 star collection of hits 2006-12-19
There is no denying that the man can sing his @$# off. Now most of the music I listen to is hip-hop I love some of the R&B/oldies/Motown music and Luther is one of my favorites. Since most of his material was out shortly before I was born or when I was still a little kid I knew a lot of his songs and this Hits collection was a good one for me to have. While he has many of fine songs and as with most hits albums, there are some I'd have liked on here and a few I don't like as much. With 18 songs on here spanning his great career, you get 3 classics, 1 almost classic song, 6 I think are average, and the rest are good or mostly real good songs. Production on here is nice as well and I still think my favorites of his is how he takes more upbeat tracks and makes them love songs (I think he does this better than anyone else ever has), but he still has some nice slower ones and some great duets (even though I'm not really a fan of these type of songs there's no question they were huge hits). This is a must have from an R&B legend.

Luther! 2008-05-31
I love it! This is the only L. Vandross music that I have, but it is a great collection. I miss his beautiful voice and this brings back memories: those of hearing his songs on the radio on a regular basis and the memories of parents who are longer with us and how he expresses his love for them.

luther vandross was and is the only ultimate love doctor that i have known and his music says it all. he was a legend in this life and hopefully in his current life. RIP luther.

Luther is an awesome artist...this CD is a great compilation of his greatest hits from his beginning to his end. I think there was only one song that I wasn't familiar with.

This cd is a must for anyone who fell in love with the voice that was silenced too early. A must and a beautiful compliation.
