Editorial Review
More comprehensive mapping and GPS software than standard 2007 now that Street Atlas 2007 Plus is on DVD. You get everything in the regular version plus the XData and Phone features as well as more advanced Draw and Print capabilities.
Maps can be controlled using a variety of methods, including the traditional push-button zooming, which drills in/out while keeping the map exactly centered. Also, holding down the left mouse button enables you to drag and zoom, left-to-right, across the map, and moving the mouse in the same manner but in the opposite direction zooms out.
Phone tab along the bottom portion of the interface allows you to create custom searches for finding either residential or business phone numbers and locations. You can search by yellow-page heading and find all the diesel repair shops and then select only the ones you'd like to display on the map. You can use the phone listings in conjunction with the XData tab to create and save custom data files for frequent retrieval.
QuickSearch where you type common requests including towns, cities, lat/lons,ZIP codes, street addresses, colleges, and many more to receive the quickest possible matches. The places-of-interest search offers more advanced parameters and the advanced search is used when locating exact matches requires additional customer input.
voice tab of the software is where you train the software to recognize your voice for issuing routing and GPS commands while tracking. Ask common questions such as ?How far to my next turn?? and the software answers. The software also reads upcoming turn information, including the time to turn, time to finish, and name of the street to turn onto. New voice settings allow you to select how far in advance of your turn you'd like to be prompted. Voice can also be turned off if you prefer.

Delorme Street Atlas 2007-05-12
I have the 2006 and thought I would get this to upgrade...well it is a lot more difficult to use...can't figure out why they just didn't add the road changes to the old format...

Used to be good but those days are over 2007-03-18
I have been a user of Delorme for over 6 years. Problems are not only with the program but also with their customer service. Here's the gist:

The program may give you points of entry onto a road when there is no need for them (i.e. it tells you to get off the highway to get back on by going in a loop and returning to the highway).

The program takes an eternity to start.
It may provide you routes that don't exist.
Roads are outdated and/or identified incorrectly even if you upgrade every year.
The voice feature works 60 to 70% of the time. You can barely hear the driving instruction(you will need to close the windows and tell everyone in the car to shut up).
The option for speaking to the program doesn't work well at all (I have never been able to get it working properly).

Be extremely careful with their Bluetooth GPSs.

I purchased the blue logger and it has been vacationing in a case for 2 years now. The darn thing works when it wants (just like some of my employees) and when it does it losses signal. Tried to contact customer service and got response 3 days latter (though they did call me). I was instructed to remove the battery of the gps in order for it to reset itself. I did and what do you think happened? NADA!!

And last but not least, The PDA option is a joke. It will take forever to upload the map to the PDA and it is EXTREMELY difficult to use. Don't even think about trying to use the PDA for entering address location for driving directions. It is just not worth the frustration.

In true honesty, the only reason I keep buying the product, the software, is due to the price and my line of work. JUST DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy any of their accessories (GPS). Go with more reliable companies. I have never and will never purchase any hardware from them again.

Very Disappointing 2007-02-18
I travel for business frequently. The phone book listings have proven to be at least 3 years old. Most of the maps are good, but there are a few that need updating. I can use Yahoo! maps online and they have more updated information. I continually check for updates to make sure I have the latest info. The GPS has problems. On more than one occasion, the GPS has indicated my current position more than 1/2 mile away from where I actually was. This was during a time when it had "good fix." Also the auto-routing can sometimes be very pushy. In one instance, the route idicate4d that I should get on a toll road that ran parallel to the road I was on and wanted to be on. The auto route tried over ten times to re-route me to the "correct" route

Very Poor Routing System 2007-02-08
I upgraded from 2003 Street Atlas. The new one has even poorer routing.
If I go from Page, AZ to Ann Arbor, MI. This new version routes me on a 4 wheel drive road (for over 50 miles) even though I have Freeway preferences set. There is no way to exclude Canada. Re-entry to the U.S. is so difficult, (soon to require a passport), the speed limits are 62 MPH max in Canada, and the fuel, especially Premium, is unbelievably expensive and I do not want to go there when I am trying to go to Vermont. There should be a way to exclude and include certain roads and countries. No routing (except shortest possible) should include dirt roads. I am 64 and went on an 8400 mile trip last summer. It was difficult to force this program to route me where I wanted to go. I use the GPS option with it and the GPS works most of the time, except it SNAPS back when trying to look ahead or at alternative routes while driving, very annoying.

Delorme Atlas 2007 2007-02-01
I like it. It is simple to use if you have had the previous years, 2005.2006. Once I set it up it has proven to be very accurate. I just came back from Utah and it worked fantastic finding restaurants and places of interest. I wished it had true 3-D. But other then that I give it high marks in all areas of use. If you are a new user, read the manual and practice using the features first.

Not so good 2007-01-11
No matter what I did I could not get this product to load onto my laptop. I own other DeLorme mapping products and have never had a problem until now. Luckily, Amazon has an excellent return policy. I am very disappointed because I wanted to switch all my mapping applications to DeLorme.

not user frendly 2007-01-03
I liked there old format. This new format is hard to use.I still haven't figured out how to add places of interest.

horrible for PDA 2006-12-19
I got this item cause it was cheap compared to other software which will allow navigation using a pda and bluetooth reciever. The software has a very steep learning curve, is very slow and cumbersome. Has a convoluted process of initiation on the PDA and since the maps are inaccurate, it makes it a really bad buy. I am trying to return it back to the company. Amazon only gives 50% refund for opened software.

Installation:
The installation of software on to the PDA is a seperate process which is not explained anywhere except Delorme website. Once you load the software there is no manual, just a small tutorial. When you try to load the maps to the pda, it loads 3 kinds of maps (road map, satellite and something else). This will create huge files which will never finish uploading. You have the option to load just the road map which is faster. The map of each state itself is divided in segments, you have to choose each segment that you want to load. All the options have to be loaded before you upload the maps to your PDA ex: you want rerouting in 100ft, 200ft..etc you POI's, choice of male or female voice...a lot more. One more thing, the maps are not up to date. I have a OEM MS streets and trips 2004 CD and the maps in this CD are pretty much same as those..at least in the boston north area.

Use:
I found it fastest to connect to the bluetooth reciever (OnCourse) when you are not moving, the maps are preloaded on the PDA and the bluetooth feature is already switched on. Even then it was slow (upto a few mins sometimes). Calculating a route was another horror story. Unless you have loaded all the options, it wont find most of the streets in the "find" feature. The navigation feature is called "tracking" in the software which took some time to figure out. rerouting was a gamble. The POI's are not up to date. The restraunts, businesses are all a gestimate. We have a huge cinema complex near our house which this thing does not list.
I am not sure of the features included for eg; xdata, logging..etc Havent used it much and already am tired of it. I hope Delorme will refund my money.

I am not sure if my PDA was too slow for this software (Ipaq 4155). Also, if you want to use it with a laptop, i think MS street and trips 2007 is much cheaper. Maybe even more upto date??
